BREAKING- Tottenham to step up efforts to sign £38m deadly left footed star, ready to match selling club’s asking price

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly intensifying their endeavors to secure the services of Bologna standout Riccardo Calafiori during this summer transfer window, as indicated by the Italian publication Tutto Juve. The Lilywhites currently boast Radu Dragusin, Cristian Romero, and Micky van de Ven as their central defensive options. Nevertheless, Ange Postecoglou, the manager, seems keen on bolstering their defensive ranks before the upcoming season, especially following their successful qualification for European competitions.

With two right-footed center-backs already in their squad, the Tottenham boss appears inclined to acquire a left-footed counterpart to complement Van de Ven next season, with Calafiori emerging as a prime and enticing candidate. The Italian defender has made a significant impact, showcasing impressive performances for Bologna last season and solidifying his spot in Italy’s starting lineup due to his recent standout displays.

According to the report by Tutto Juve, Tottenham’s interest in signing Calafiori is substantial, and they are preparing to escalate their pursuit to attract him to the newly renovated White Hart Lane. Bologna is reportedly seeking a transfer fee ranging between £34m-£38m for their star player, an amount Tottenham is willing to match without hesitation, underlining their determination to secure his services.

However, Calafiori’s personal inclination seems to lean towards remaining in Italy, with Juventus being his preferred destination should he decide to depart Bologna this summer. The Bianconeri, under the guidance of new manager Thiago Motta, have witnessed Calafiori’s stellar performances last season, indicating a potential reunion between player and coach as Juventus also expresses keen interest in acquiring him.

Consequently, Tottenham faces the challenge of convincing the 22-year-old to make the move to White Hart Lane, should they decide to actively pursue his signature during this transfer window. Calafiori’s versatility, capable of playing both as a center-back and left-back, coupled with his potential to evolve into a world-class defender, makes him an enticing and highly sought-after prospect for Tottenham’s defensive lineup.

Nevertheless, securing Calafiori’s services in this transfer window might prove to be an arduous task for the North London club as they seek to fortify and enhance their defensive capabilities in preparation for the challenges ahead in domestic and European competitions.
