Breaking news- official Contact made with ligue 1 club for €50m sensational star as Levy follows up Gray deal with another outstanding signing

Tottenham Hotspur could follow up their impressive acquisition of teenage midfielder Archie Gray by securing another exceptional young talent, sources have told TEAMtalk.

Gray’s signing was finally confirmed on Tuesday morning after several days of negotiations. Spurs managed to beat Brentford in the race to sign the highly-rated Leeds United prospect. The 18-year-old has committed to a six-year contract with Tottenham, extending through to the summer of 2030, with a weekly wage of £75,000.

In North London, Gray will don the No.14 shirt, previously worn by Ivan Perisic and, interestingly, by Joe Rodon, who is moving to Leeds on a permanent basis following a successful loan spell there last season. TEAMtalk can reveal that Leeds did not secure a sell-on clause in the deal and did not attempt to negotiate a season-long loan return for Gray. This means he will join Tottenham’s pre-season training in the coming week.

Gray is Tottenham’s second signing of the transfer window, following the loan return of Timo Werner. However, more signings are anticipated as the club intends to fully support manager Ange Postecoglou in the summer transfer market. The next potential addition could be another promising young talent, with Spurs eyeing Rennes midfielder Desire Doue.

The 19-year-old Doue, also linked with Manchester United, is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising prospects, having made his senior debut for Rennes in 2022. Since then, he has made 57 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring seven goals. Doue’s versatility allows him to play in various midfield positions and out wide. Last season, he tallied four goals and six assists in 43 appearances across all competitions, including six Europa League matches, as Rennes finished 10th in the league.

Tottenham have already initiated contact regarding a potential deal for Doue. Transfer insider Fraser Fletcher reports that Spurs have reached out to Doue’s agents. Although Transfermarkt currently values the player at £27 million, Rennes is expected to demand closer to £50 million. The price reflects the premium often attached to Premier League targets, particularly for a player completing his first full season of senior football.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will be willing to meet this valuation, especially after recent acquisitions like Gray and Lucas Bergvall. Securing a new striker and another central defender are high on Postecoglou’s priority list as Tottenham aims to improve on their fifth-place finish last season and return to the Champions League. Nonetheless, if a talent of Doue’s caliber officially becomes available, it is crucial for the club to consider future prospects.
