Breaking news- Spurs launches iresistible bid to sign special player which Ange Postecoglou dubbed as his own “Declan Rice” to help secure his midfield

Following a season of ups and downs under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for a pivotal summer. Despite securing a spot in the Europa League, the North London club is eager to elevate its status and challenge the Premier League’s elite. For this, Chairman Daniel Levy and his team need to secure top-tier talent in the coming weeks and months.

Fortunately, one of the latest players linked with a move to Tottenham is Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who has enjoyed a standout season and drawn comparisons to England international Declan Rice.

As reported by journalist Ben Jacobs via Playback TV, Tottenham remains keen on signing Conor Gallagher and is “expected to bid” for the Englishman this summer. However, Tottenham faces competition from La Liga giants Atlético Madrid, who have already had a £20 million plus bonuses offer rejected by Chelsea. The Blues are holding out for a fee around £55 million for their Cobham graduate, although Gallagher himself reportedly prefers to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Despite the potential complications and high costs, Gallagher’s impressive performances last season make him a worthy target. Comparisons to Rice add to his appeal.

While Declan Rice may not be a favorite among Tottenham fans due to his association with rivals Arsenal, being compared to him is a testament to Gallagher’s talent. According to FBref, which analyzes players across Europe’s top five leagues, Gallagher ranks as the tenth most similar midfielder to Rice. This comparison is based on several key metrics, including non-penalty expected goals and assists, actual assists, shots on target, passing accuracy, tackles, interceptions, and goal-creating actions per 90 minutes.

Gallagher and Rice share more than just similar statistics; they are also versatile midfielders capable of adapting to various roles. Last season, Gallagher started 21 games as an attacking midfielder, 18 in central midfield, eight in defensive midfield, and two on the left. Similarly, Rice was deployed in defensive midfield 30 times, central midfield 19 times, and even as a center-back once.

Gallagher’s ability to contribute both defensively and offensively makes him a valuable asset. Last season, the Chelsea midfielder recorded seven goals and nine assists in 50 appearances, closely matching Rice’s seven goals and ten assists in 51 games for Arsenal. This demonstrates Gallagher’s capability to influence the game across various positions on the pitch.

Bringing Gallagher to N17 could be a game-changer for Tottenham. His versatility and knack for goal involvements would significantly bolster Postecoglou’s midfield options. While the transfer might be costly, Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board should consider making every effort to secure Gallagher’s services. His arrival could be the key to transforming Tottenham’s midfield and helping the team compete at the highest level in the Premier League.
