“Spotted”- £22 million forward spotted in London airport amid Tottenham links
A Turkish star has been spotted in London, as negotiations for his transfer to the Premier League heat up.
Turkey is becoming an increasingly significant scouting ground for Premier League clubs, owing to the abundance of talent emerging from the country. In recent months, Arda Guler has been the most prominent name to come out of Turkey. The Real Madrid attacking midfielder made headlines with a spectacular goal for his country at Euro 2024.
However, the spotlight is now on another Turkish forward, Baris Alper Yilmaz.
Reports from HITC last month revealed that Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on Baris Alper Yilmaz following his impressive performances at Euro 2024. His potential departure from Galatasaray has been a hot topic among football enthusiasts.
Turkey’s national team was one of the standout surprises of the tournament, with Vincenzo Montella’s side reaching the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, which was hosted in Turkey. This unexpected success has only heightened interest in Turkish players, including Yilmaz.
The interest from Arsenal and Liverpool follows previous expressions of interest from other Premier League clubs such as Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Bournemouth, and Brighton.
Last season, Yilmaz made a significant impact at Galatasaray. The Turkish giants broke the 100-point barrier and clinched the Super Lig title, with Yilmaz playing a pivotal role. Across all competitions, he scored seven goals and provided 12 assists. According to Turkish outlet Aksam, Galatasaray values the forward at £22 million.
Recently, Yilmaz shared on his Instagram that he is in London, which hints that he might be in talks with either Arsenal or Tottenham regarding a potential move.
Sources have confirmed to HITC that Yilmaz’s agent is in discussions with several clubs about a possible transfer. While a move to a top-tier Premier League team would be a significant step for the 22-year-old, former Galatasaray assistant manager Selcuk Inan believes Yilmaz has the talent to thrive at either Arsenal or Liverpool.
“Baris Alper Yilmaz, I think, can play very easily in many teams in the Premier League right now,” Inan remarked. “He is a very special player. We worked hard with him.”
As talks continue, fans and analysts alike are eager to see if Yilmaz will make his way to the Premier League, potentially following in the footsteps of other successful Turkish players who have made an impact on the international stage.
