Ian Wright shocked after Gary Neville predicts where Tottenham are going to finish this season

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bounce back and have a significantly improved season in the Premier League during the 2024/25 campaign compared to their previous outing.

Ange Postecoglou, the club’s head coach, earned widespread praise for his work in his first season at the helm. The Australian manager made an almost immediate impact, turning Tottenham into a formidable force early in the season. The team appeared to be genuine contenders at the start, raising hopes of a successful campaign.

However, injuries played a crucial role in derailing their momentum. Tottenham’s promising start was eventually marred by setbacks, leading to a fifth-place finish in the Premier League, just two points shy of securing a spot in the coveted Champions League.

As the new season approaches, football pundit Gary Neville has shared his thoughts on where Tottenham might end up in the 2024/25 Premier League standings. Speaking on the latest episode of the *Stick to Football* podcast, Neville discussed Spurs’ prospects for the upcoming season.

For Tottenham, the primary goal for the season ahead is clear: securing a top-four finish. After narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification last season, Postecoglou and his team are determined to achieve this essential target. The Spurs boss was visibly frustrated towards the end of the last campaign as his side faltered despite being in a strong position to secure a top-four spot.

While Postecoglou will undoubtedly set his sights higher, the absolute minimum expectation for Tottenham is to finish within the top four and secure Champions League football. However, achieving this will not be an easy task, given the fierce competition in the league.

Arsenal and Manchester City are widely expected to cement their places in the top four, while Liverpool is always a strong contender. Manchester United has made some shrewd acquisitions in the transfer window, which should bolster their chances, and Newcastle United, as well as Aston Villa, are also expected to be in the mix.

Despite these challenges, Neville has expressed confidence in Tottenham’s chances. He boldly predicted that Spurs would clinch fourth place in the Premier League, finishing ahead of Liverpool. “I’ll go Tottenham,” Neville stated when asked who he believes will secure the fourth spot.

His prediction was met with surprise from fellow pundits, with Ian Wright exclaiming, “You’re going to go Tottenham? Wow!” Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher and Wright both tipped Liverpool to edge out Spurs for that crucial fourth position.

Nevertheless, Tottenham should not limit themselves to just a top-four finish. The team demonstrated last season that they are capable of competing with the Premier League’s elite. Their attacking prowess is a significant asset, capable of troubling any defense in the league. Although there is still work to be done to strengthen their backline, Spurs should set their sights higher.

Aiming for a third-place finish should be a realistic goal for Tottenham this season. Additionally, they should prioritize success in the Europa League and domestic cup competitions. The club’s trophy drought has now stretched over 6,000 days, and it is high time they ended this barren spell. Spurs must do everything in their power to secure silverware this season, as it would not only satisfy the fans but also solidify their status as a top club in English football.
