The New York Jets have had a busy ten days since the conclusion of the 2024 season, with their search for a new general manager and head coach well underway. On Tuesday, the team completed the first round of interviews for the GM role, meeting with 15 identified candidates.
The head coach search, however, is still in its early stages. The Jets are still conducting initial interviews with 18 potential candidates, leaving much to be decided. As the process enters its second week, two names have emerged as frontrunners: Aaron Glenn and Brian Flores.
During an appearance on ESPN’s *Don, Hahn & Rosenburg*, Jets insider Rich Cimini shared insights into the coaching search. He revealed that Aaron Glenn has shown strong interest in the Jets’ head coach position, while Brian Flores is seen as an “intriguing” option, particularly given his prior head coaching experience with the Miami Dolphins.
The Jets appear to be leaning toward either Glenn or Flores to take charge of the team. Both have gained significant traction in recent days, especially following the Patriots’ decision to hire Mike Vrabel.
Aaron Glenn’s connection to the Jets is well-established. A former player for eight seasons, Glenn later served as a personnel scout for the team from 2012 to 2013. As a Pro Bowl-caliber player, he has built a solid reputation as a coaching candidate, with endorsements from prominent figures like Bill Parcells and Sean Payton. Glenn also has ties to the New Orleans Saints, having played for them in 2008 and worked as their defensive backs coach from 2016 to 2020.
On the other hand, Brian Flores offers experience as a head coach, having led the Dolphins for three seasons with a 24-25 record. Since then, he has served under Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh for one season and as the defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings for the past two years. If the Jets choose Flores, there are rumors about potential GM and staff pairings, including Ryan Grigson, the Vikings’ Senior VP of Player Personnel, as a possible GM candidate. Additionally, former Jets quarterback Josh McCown, currently the Vikings’ quarterbacks coach, could join the Jets as offensive coordinator.
The Jets’ decision on their next head coach and GM remains uncertain, but both Glenn and Flores have emerged as strong contenders for the roles.
