Former New York Giants safety Jabrill Peppers is facing legal challenges after pleading guilty to cocaine possession related to an October incident involving multiple charges, including assault and battery, strangulation, and assault with a dangerous weapon. The guilty plea allows Peppers to have the drug charge dismissed if he completes a four-month probation period, but the more serious assault charges remain unresolved.
Peppers has denied allegations of assaulting a 34-year-old woman, who accused him of choking and shoving her during the altercation. The alleged victim described the ordeal as traumatic, claiming she pleaded with him to stop, mentioning her child.
Peppers’ lawyer refuted the claims, alleging the woman fabricated the story after attempting to have unprotected sex with the player, who was with the New England Patriots at the time of the incident.
Following the arrest, Peppers was placed on the NFL commissioner’s exempt list but returned to play briefly in Weeks 13 and 15, though he lost his captaincy. Initially acquired by the Giants in the Odell Beckham Jr. trade, Peppers became a free agent after the 2021 season.
