Their only hope for success now lies in the Europa League. Postecoglou had hoped to continue his tradition of winning trophies in his second season at a club, but this goal is now less likely.
Questions are mounting over Postecoglou’s future. The match against Manchester United on Sunday is seen as pivotal for Postecoglou’s future. Tottenham has reportedly compiled a shortlist of three managerial candidates: an elite European manager who reached the Champions League final last season and two current Premier League managers.

Another candidate is Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth’s manager, who is highly regarded but unlikely to move mid-season. Brentford’s Thomas Frank, who was previously considered for the Tottenham job, is also on the list. Frank is expected to leave Brentford at the end of the season and could be a target for several top clubs.
Looking at Tottenham’s managerial history, they’ve dismissed several coaches when the team was in suboptimal positions. Antonio Conte was sacked while Tottenham was 4th in the table, Nuno Espirito Santo was let go when Spurs were 9th, and Jose Mourinho was fired in 7th place.
