Leeds United target move for Bristol City ace, Everton also keen
Leeds United Among Several Premier League Clubs Targeting Bristol City Midfielder Jason Knight
Leeds United are reportedly eyeing a move for Bristol City’s talented midfielder Jason Knight this summer, as per a report from EFL Analysis. The Yorkshire club is preparing for their return to the Premier League after winning the Championship title and are now looking to strengthen their squad for the challenges that lie ahead in the top flight.
Knight, 24, has been an integral figure for Bristol City since joining the Robins in 2023. His consistent performances in the heart of midfield have not gone unnoticed, and it appears that he has attracted serious interest from multiple Premier League clubs. Alongside Leeds, Everton are also believed to be keeping close tabs on the Republic of Ireland international.
Football journalist Graeme Bailey, providing an update on Knight’s situation, stated via EFL Analysis:
> “There is Premier League interest in Jason Knight. He’s a very good player. I’ve heard Bournemouth, Fulham, and Everton are all looking at him, and Leeds United are also monitoring his situation. There’s a lot of attention around him, and there’s a possibility he could move on this summer.
It will ultimately depend on Bristol City’s valuation. I don’t think Knight is necessarily pushing for a move because he’s had a strong season, but it really comes down to what the club decide to do. I’ve even heard whispers that Liam Manning at Norwich City could be interested, but given the financial aspect, he may be too costly for another Championship side.”
Knight has become one of the standout performers at Ashton Gate and could be viewed by Leeds United as a player who could add energy, vision, and versatility to their midfield. With the step up to the Premier League demanding quality and depth in every department, the Whites are eager to ensure their recruitment strategy is on point in the upcoming transfer window.
The Dublin-born midfielder, who has earned 39 senior caps for the Republic of Ireland, played a key role in helping Bristol City reach the Championship play-offs last season. Unfortunately for the Robins, their campaign ended in disappointment after they were knocked out in the semi-finals by Sheffield United over two legs. Adding to the club’s instability, they recently lost their manager Liam Manning to Norwich City.
Knight’s current contract runs until June 2027, meaning Bristol City are under no immediate pressure to part ways with him. However, with growing interest from top-tier sides and potentially significant transfer fees on the table, the Robins may be forced to consider offers that reflect Knight’s value.
Knight began his professional career at Derby County, where he rose through the academy ranks after joining in 2017. He made his senior debut for the Rams in 2019 and went on to make 166 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals. His performances earned him a move to Bristol City in 2023, and since then, he has cemented himself as a key player, featuring 102 times and netting 10 goals for the club.
As it stands, Leeds United have not made a formal bid, but it’s clear that Knight is high on their list of potential targets. However, they may face stiff competition from the likes of Fulham, Bournemouth, and Everton, all of whom could also offer the 24-year-old a platform to showcase his talents in the Premier League.
Whether Leeds will be able to secure his signature remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Jason Knight’s future is one to watch closely this summer as the transfer window heats up.
