Sky Sports: Tottenham make surprise U-turn on ‘unplayable’ star’s future after Thomas Frank decision

Tottenham Hotspur’s new head coach Thomas Frank is already making key assessments ahead of the 2025/26 season, and one of the players set to be closely evaluated during pre-season is Manor Solomon.

According to a report from French journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Solomon will be given the opportunity to prove himself at Spurs this summer. The Danish coach, who replaced Ange Postecoglou following his shock dismissal after the end of the season, wants to take a firsthand look at the Israeli winger before making any definitive decisions about his future at the club.

The 25-year-old Solomon spent the previous campaign on loan at Leeds United, where he enjoyed a hugely productive spell under Daniel Farke. Playing a key role in the Whites’ triumphant push for promotion, Solomon contributed 10 goals and 12 assists across all competitions, helping Leeds lift the EFL Championship title and return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Solomon originally joined Tottenham as a free agent in the summer of 2023, taking advantage of a FIFA ruling that allowed foreign players in Ukraine to suspend their contracts due to the ongoing conflict in the region. The winger terminated his deal with Shakhtar Donetsk and moved to North London without a transfer fee. However, his debut season at Spurs was hampered by limited opportunities, and he soon found himself loaned out to Elland Road in search of regular playing time.

Despite his successful stint at Leeds and desire to remain at the Yorkshire club permanently, Solomon is now expected to report back to Hotspur Way for pre-season duties. According to Tavolieri, Thomas Frank is intrigued by the winger’s pace, flair, and attacking output, and wants to observe him up close before making any long-term decision.

“Manor Solomon’s going to start pre-season with Tottenham. Thomas Frank likes what he sees and wants to check him out in training,” Tavolieri posted on X. “Currently, the plan is that Manor will stay and play for Tottenham this season.”

Solomon has three years remaining on his current contract with Spurs and could become a more prominent figure under Frank, especially if other attacking changes take place this summer. Notably, speculation continues to swirl around the future of club captain Son Heung-min, who is reportedly open to a move away from Tottenham amid growing interest from overseas clubs. If Son were to depart, it could create a significant void in the squad—one that Solomon may be tasked with helping to fill.

Frank’s early tenure is already generating headlines, with reports suggesting that he could be set to shake up the starting lineup in key areas. Richarlison is reportedly being considered for the main striker role ahead of new signing Dominic Solanke, while Spurs are also pushing to reunite Frank with one of his former stars.

Tottenham are said to have submitted a substantial £70 million bid for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo. The Cameroonian international had initially been leaning towards a move to Manchester United, but Spurs are hoping to hijack the deal and bring him to North London instead.

Should Mbeumo arrive and Son exit, the competition for attacking roles would intensify—yet Solomon’s versatility and recent form at Leeds may give him the edge. His ability to play on either wing, combined with his sharp dribbling and eye for goal, could make him a valuable asset in Frank’s system.

As pre-season approaches, all eyes will be on Thomas Frank’s first steps in reshaping the Tottenham squad, and Manor Solomon may just be one of the surprise names to benefit from the Danish tactician’s arrival.
