Why Jack Grealish’s choice of next club hands Leeds United a huge boost in battle for £20m star

Leeds United’s Transfer Hunt Intensifies – With Jack Grealish’s Future Potentially Key to Landing £20m Target

Leeds United’s search for reinforcements ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign is heating up, with the summer transfer window officially set to open on Monday. While the club has yet to confirm any marquee signings, negotiations are well underway behind the scenes—and Manchester City’s Jack Grealish could play an unexpected but pivotal role in whether Leeds secure one of their top attacking targets.

Elland Road is braced for a whirlwind summer. Having sealed a sensational return to the top flight by clinching the Championship title with 100 points, Leeds are now looking to build a squad capable of competing and surviving in the Premier League. Head of football operations, Adam Underwood, is understood to be juggling multiple potential deals simultaneously as he works to strengthen Daniel Farke’s squad.

One player already edging closer to becoming a Leeds United player is Slovenian international Jaka Bijol. The versatile Udinese man has reportedly given his green light to the move, and discussions are ongoing between the two clubs to agree on a suitable transfer fee. The club is optimistic that a deal will be finalised shortly.

Elsewhere, Leeds are pushing hard for Strasbourg midfielder Habib Diarra. A formal £22 million offer has already been submitted, signalling Leeds’ serious intent to land the 20-year-old French prospect.

However, a familiar name continues to dominate the headlines—Manor Solomon. The Israeli winger, who played a crucial role in Leeds’ Championship-winning campaign by scoring the goal that confirmed their title, has been heavily linked with a permanent move to West Yorkshire. The club are reportedly preparing an offer in the region of £15m to £20m to make his stay permanent.

Yet, the situation is far from straightforward—and one of the unexpected twists in this saga comes via Tottenham Hotspur and a possible transfer involving Jack Grealish.

Why Jack Grealish’s Move Matters for Leeds

Reports from Sport 1 in Israel suggest that Tottenham are strongly pursuing Manchester City’s Jack Grealish, who appears to be on his way out of the Etihad after being left out of City’s Club World Cup squad. With a potential move to Spurs worth around £100 million, the arrival of Grealish could force Tottenham into making tough financial decisions to balance the books.

One of those decisions may involve offloading Manor Solomon. New Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank is believed to be assessing all available options within the squad before making any transfer decisions. Solomon, who has seen limited minutes during his time in North London due to injuries and strong competition, could find himself surplus to requirements if Grealish joins the club.

If Spurs do opt to cash in on Solomon, Leeds would be well-positioned to snap him up—especially given the player’s existing rapport with the squad and fanbase after his title-clinching heroics.

Alternatives to Solomon? Few and Far Between

Interestingly, Leeds have not been heavily linked with other wingers so far this summer, which might indicate their confidence in landing Solomon. The lack of alternatives in that position may suggest that the club is prioritising this particular deal, rather than casting the net wide.

That said, there have been some reports of interest in Igor Paixao, the talented winger currently at Feyenoord. The Brazilian is reportedly valued at around £34 million, and while Leeds are one of the clubs keeping tabs on him, competition from bigger clubs—most notably Arsenal—makes a successful pursuit highly unlikely for the Whites.

As it stands, Solomon is currently in Israel, having just celebrated his wedding. His immediate future remains uncertain, and it is understood that a final decision on his club destination has not yet been made. However, with the transfer window about to open and major moves brewing in the Premier League, it may not be long before his fate—and potentially Leeds’ fortunes—are decided.

For now, Leeds United will continue pushing on all fronts, hoping that the dominoes fall in their favour—starting, quite remarkably, with Jack Grealish.
