Deal set to be complete soon as Aston Villa makes big offer to sign the player they’re ‘tempting’ towards Villa Park

Aston Villa are reportedly working to lure highly-rated winger Jesús Rodríguez away from Real Betis this summer, although the Premier League side have yet to submit a formal bid for the 19-year-old talent.

According to a new report from Mucho Deporte, Villa are among a number of European clubs showing strong interest in Rodríguez, with the youngster himself open to making the move away from Seville. The report states that Villa are “tempting” the teenager, alongside Italian side Como, who are also looking to strengthen their squad during this transfer window.

 

However, despite the growing interest, Real Betis have not received any official offers so far and are in no rush to sell. The La Liga side are hoping to spark a bidding war and are holding out for a significant transfer fee. It’s understood that both Rodríguez and fellow teammate Johnny Cardoso are on the verge of leaving the club, with Betis targeting a combined minimum of €65 million in fixed fees for the duo. The club views anything less as financially “unviable” and will only entertain serious proposals.

 

Jesús Rodríguez has garnered attention thanks to his rapid development and performances for Betis, and the club firmly believes he alone could generate a sizable chunk of that €65 million valuation. They expect to receive a “significant sum” for him should a transfer materialise. The player, for his part, is said to be keen on a move away and would welcome a new challenge abroad.

 

This update follows earlier claims that Aston Villa had already opened talks regarding the young winger, with sporting director Monchi reportedly spearheading the pursuit. Monchi, who previously worked in Spain and is familiar with Rodríguez’s profile, is said to be a key figure in pushing for the transfer to be completed.

 

While the Villans have not tabled an offer yet, their continued interest, alongside that of other European suitors, suggests that a formal move could be imminent. Betis, meanwhile, are expected to remain patient, only agreeing to a sale if their financial expectations are met.

 

As things stand, Jesús Rodríguez remains a player to watch in the coming weeks, with Aston Villa firmly in the frame as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
