Sky Sport: Nottingham Forest ‘ready to offer’ £21m for in-demand midfielder to seal transfer

Nottingham Forest Renew Interest in AC Milan’s Yunus Musah as Summer Reinforcements Take Shape

Nottingham Forest have once again turned their attention to AC Milan’s highly-rated and versatile midfielder Yunus Musah as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season. With summer recruitment plans in full swing at the City Ground, Musah has emerged as a prominent target on the club’s radar.

The 22-year-old United States international has long been admired by Forest, having previously attracted interest during his time at Valencia. Their interest dates back to the summer of 2022 and re-emerged the following January. Now, with Musah’s future at the San Siro increasingly uncertain, Forest appear ready to pounce.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Nottingham Forest and fellow Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers are both prepared to table offers in the region of €25 million (approximately £21 million) for the dynamic midfielder. AC Milan are not expected to resist such offers, having made it clear that Musah is not part of their long-term plans.

Musah’s time at Milan has not unfolded as hoped since joining from Valencia. While he has demonstrated flashes of quality and versatility—being capable of operating as a central midfielder, on the wing, or even in a more advanced number 10 role—he has struggled to fully cement a consistent starting role in Stefano Pioli’s setup.

Newly-appointed Milan sporting director Igli Tare recently addressed Musah’s situation during a press conference, suggesting that the American does not align with the tactical direction the club intends to take. “I think Musah is an excellent player,” Tare said, “but we are looking for profiles with characteristics that are useful for the project we have. We want deeper midfielders in a three-man midfield, and Musah does not fit that specific profile.”

Musah had been close to joining Napoli earlier in the window, but talks eventually broke down. However, Napoli reportedly remain interested, along with West Ham United, who have also been monitoring the player. Milan, for their part, appear keen to facilitate a Premier League move, believing it would better showcase Musah’s athleticism, intensity, and dynamic playing style.

The midfielder’s ability to contribute across multiple positions makes him an appealing target for clubs aiming to add flexibility to their squads. Forest, under head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, are keen to add more energy and dynamism to their midfield, and Musah fits the profile of a player who could elevate the team’s performance in and out of possession.

So far this summer, Forest have yet to announce any major signings. However, a deal for Botafogo striker Igor Jesus is reportedly nearing completion now that his commitments at the Club World Cup have concluded. With the Musah pursuit heating up, Forest fans may soon see more high-profile arrivals as the club prepares for a more competitive push in the upcoming campaign.

With Milan open to selling and several clubs circling, the race for Yunus Musah’s signature is gathering momentum—and Nottingham Forest are right in

the thick of it.
