Tottenham must pay £68m to agree Eberechi Eze deal’ – Stefan Borson

Tottenham must pay £68million to agree a deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this summer.

The England international has been linked with several top clubs following his performances at Selhurst Park.The 27-year-old registered 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances in the 2024-25 campaign, including the winning strike in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

Former Spurs chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 31 May Tottenham were preparing to open talks with Eze and his representatives over a possible move.The north London giants have been linked with the 27-year-old for some time, with his deal at Selhurst Park including a £68million release clause.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Palace will hold out for Eze’s release clause this summer. Thomas Frank has been appointed as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement as he looks to improve on last season’s 17th-place finish in the Premier League table.

However, Spurs will be able to offer potential new signings Champions League football following their Europa League final victory over Manchester United. He told Football Insider: “I think it’s pretty hard to believe that Palace would be prepared to wave that position.

I think if you look at similar players that have transferred, £68million feels like the ballpark for Eze.

We know that Palace have held pretty firm historically on players like that.“Guehi, for example, we know that they held very firm even probably only £4-5million apart from Newcastle last summer, and they may end up losing him on a free transfer eventually.

“So, we know that they’re prepared to reject big offers.“I suspect it’s release clause or you stay.“They did it of course a number of times I think with Zaha as well, so they’ve shown themselves to be pretty strong in that situation for their core players.

“If that is a runner with Spurs, it’s a very expensive deal, so I don’t know whether it may feel a bit toppy for Spurs.I suspect Crystal Palace will hold out.”
