Nottingham Forest already looking at Anthony Elanga replacement suggesting Newcastle Untied deal is close
Newcastle United are hoping that progress will be made in the transfer market very soon, with two deals reportedly on the verge of completion.
Eddie Howe is waiting for the final pieces to fall into place in Newcastle’s pursuit of both James Trafford from Burnley and Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.
While Burnley have already signed a goalkeeper this summer, suggesting they’re preparing for the exit of Trafford, Forest will need to look to bring in a new winger if they lose Elanga.

A report in The Guardian claims that Forest are already making moves to replace Anthony Elanga with a player whose name should be pretty familiar to Newcastle fans.
The Tricky Trees are keen to sign PSV winger Johan Bakayoko who has been linked to Newcastle many times. He’s still on the Magpies’ list should the Elanga deal fall through.

Forest looking at Bakayoko to replace Elanga shows that both clubs feel they’re very similar players, but clearly, Newcastle’s preference is the Sweden star.
The PSV star is likely to cost less than the £55 million it’s going to cost Newcastle to land Elanga, but Eddie Howe clearly feels he’d be the better fit.
Anthony Elanga will have Swedish cohorts Alexander Isak and Emil Krafth to welcome him to the club, but perhaps more key is his relationship with Newcastle’s resident heed the ball, Will Osula.
The fact that Forest are looking at Bakayoko does give us hope that Elanga is on his way to Tyneside.
