Newcastle United have been persistently pursuing Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga this summer, but the transfer saga remains unresolved. The Magpies are eager to strengthen their attacking options and have already submitted two formal bids for the Swedish winger. Their initial offer, reportedly worth around £45 million with additional performance-based add-ons, was swiftly rejected by Forest. However, a second bid—this time valued closer to £55 million—is currently under consideration by the East Midlands club as talks between both sides continue.
Elanga has long been on Newcastle’s radar. The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to St James’ Park since last summer and remains a priority target for Eddie Howe and the club’s recruitment team. However, with negotiations dragging on and a final decision still pending, Newcastle have begun exploring alternative attacking reinforcements in the market.
One name that has resurfaced is Mohammed Kudus. The Ghanaian international, who joined West Ham United from Ajax in 2023, was previously a target for the Magpies before his move to the London Stadium. Now, he has re-emerged as a possible solution to their attacking concerns—especially as uncertainty looms over the Elanga deal.
Despite a somewhat inconsistent second season in England, Kudus remains a highly sought-after talent. He impressed during his debut Premier League campaign, notching 14 goals and providing nine assists across all competitions—including a standout performance against Newcastle where he recorded two goals and an assist. Although his form dipped last season, with just five goals and four assists under the stewardship of Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter, his raw ability and versatility continue to attract interest from top clubs.
Newcastle are not alone in monitoring Kudus. Chelsea have also shown keen interest, despite facing restrictions due to Financial Fair Play concerns and UEFA sanctions. The Blues are reportedly looking to bolster their wide attacking options and view Kudus as a high-upside addition to their squad.
However, both Newcastle and Chelsea may be left disappointed in their pursuit of the 24-year-old forward. According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Kudus has already made a clear decision about his future—and it doesn’t involve either of the two aforementioned clubs.
Kudus Focused on Tottenham Move
Romano, posting an update on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that Kudus has set his sights on a move to Tottenham Hotspur. The player has reportedly given his approval to Spurs’ project and is no longer entertaining approaches from other clubs. “Understand Mohammed Kudus is not talking to any other club at this stage: he wants Tottenham move,” Romano stated. “Kudus already said yes to Spurs project and club-to-club talks with West Ham will continue soon. Clear intention is to join Spurs.”
In a further update on his YouTube channel, Romano elaborated that Tottenham had already submitted an opening bid to West Ham for Kudus, which was turned down. The reported value of the initial offer was in the region of £50 million, a figure that did not meet West Ham’s valuation. Nevertheless, Spurs are expected to return with an improved proposal in the coming days.
Crucially, new Spurs boss Thomas Frank is believed to be a strong admirer of Kudus and has given the green light for the club to push ahead in their pursuit. Frank sees Kudus as a key addition to his squad—a dynamic, versatile forward capable of playing across the front line and injecting creativity and energy into the team.
“Tottenham want to attack again for Kudus,” Romano added. “Thomas Frank has approved him internally as a crucial transfer target for this summer. The most positive development for Spurs fans is that Kudus himself wants the move—he’s already said yes.”
West Ham Face Dilemma
West Ham United, meanwhile, may be forced to sell Kudus as they look to balance the books and reinvest in other areas of their squad. Though the Ghanaian remains a valuable asset, the Hammers are aware that his desire to leave and the growing interest from top clubs could complicate their summer business if left unresolved.
With negotiations now underway, Tottenham appear to be in pole position to secure the signature of one of the Premier League’s most promising attacking talents. Should Kudus arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it would represent a major coup for Frank’s new regime and a potentially transformative addition to Spurs’ front line.
For Newcastle, attention will remain on Anthony Elanga, but if that deal stalls or collapses, they may need to turn their focus back to Kudus—assuming, of course, it’s not already too late.
