Everton now plotting swoop to sign £40m star with 15-G/A last season – report
Everton Eye Ambitious Move for Monaco Striker Mika Biereth Amid Premier League Interest
Everton have reportedly set their sights on AS Monaco striker Mika Biereth, according to a report from Caught Offside. The 22-year-old Danish forward has emerged as a hot property in the European transfer market following a breakout campaign in Ligue 1, and the Toffees are said to be among several Premier League clubs monitoring his situation.
Biereth began his career in the youth ranks at Arsenal, where he was tipped for a bright future. However, he found first-team opportunities hard to come by at the Emirates Stadium and was subsequently loaned out on multiple occasions to gain senior-level experience and accelerate his development. After spells in England and abroad, he made a permanent switch to Austrian Bundesliga outfit SK Sturm Graz last summer.
It was in Austria where Biereth began to show signs of fulfilling his early promise. His consistent goal-scoring form at Sturm Graz attracted attention, and AS Monaco acted swiftly to secure his services in the January transfer window. The principality club were rewarded almost immediately, as Biereth hit the ground running in France.
During the second half of the 2024/25 campaign, the young forward delivered a series of impressive performances for Monaco. He netted 13 goals and contributed two assists in just 16 Ligue 1 appearances, playing a pivotal role in helping his side finish in the top three and secure Champions League qualification for the upcoming season.
Following his prolific form, Biereth has now caught the eye of several clubs in England, with Everton understood to be seriously considering a move for the player. Caught Offside claims the Toffees are weighing up an official bid, possibly in the coming weeks, as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
Despite only joining Monaco a few months ago, the French club may be willing to sanction a sale if they receive an offer in the region of £40 million. Biereth is currently under contract until 2029, which puts Monaco in a strong negotiating position. However, they are reportedly open to the idea of cashing in if their valuation is met.
Everton’s interest comes in the wake of Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s departure on a free transfer earlier this summer. The Merseyside outfit have already brought in Thierno Barry from Villarreal to fill the void, and with Beto also in the squad, they appear to have a decent amount of depth up front. Yet manager David Moyes is seemingly eager to add another high-caliber striker to ensure his side can compete effectively throughout the campaign.
That said, Everton are not alone in the race for Biereth. Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Aston Villa are also believed to be exploring a move for the Danish international.
Newcastle, in particular, have been actively searching for a forward to provide support for Alexander Isak. After missing out on Joao Pedro and Hugo Ekitike, the Magpies have turned their attention to Yoane Wissa. Should that deal fall through, Biereth is considered a viable backup option. The player himself is said to be open to a move to St James’ Park.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa have identified Biereth as a potential replacement should star striker Ollie Watkins be lured away amid interest from several top clubs. Unai Emery’s side are preparing for the possibility of losing the England international and see Biereth as someone capable of stepping into his shoes.
Wolves, too, are keeping tabs on the situation as they look to bolster their squad with fresh attacking talent.
As the transfer window continues to unfold, all eyes will be on whether Everton can fend off competition and make a serious move for Mika Biereth. If they do, the Merseyside club could land a highly talented and dynamic forward who is ready to take the Premier League by storm.
