Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially confirmed the signing of Norwegian left-back David Møller Wolfe from AZ Alkmaar, marking their third acquisition of the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old defender joins the Premier League side on a five-year contract following the successful completion of his medical on Friday. Wolves reportedly agreed a transfer fee in the region of £10 million with Dutch club AZ Alkmaar to secure Wolfe’s services.
Wolfe has been brought in as the long-term replacement for Rayan Aït-Nouri, who departed Molineux earlier this summer in a high-profile move to Manchester City. Under the guidance of head coach Vítor Pereira, Wolfe is expected to slot into the left wing-back role within Wolves’ preferred tactical setup.
Despite the team currently being in Spain for a pre-season training camp and set to play Girona on Sunday, Wolfe will not link up with the squad abroad. Instead, he is scheduled to join the team next week upon their return to Wolverhampton as they ramp up preparations ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Wolfe’s move to Wolves marks the latest step in a rapid career rise. The Bergen-born defender began his professional journey with Norwegian lower-tier side Bergen Nord, before moving to SK Brann where he developed into a standout talent. His performances earned him a transfer to AZ Alkmaar in 2023, where he quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice left-back, succeeding Milos Kerkez.
During the 2024/25 campaign, Wolfe was a key figure for the Dutch side, featuring in 45 matches across all competitions. He notched three goals and provided eight assists, underlining his attacking threat from deep positions—an attribute Wolves will look to maximize under Pereira’s system.
With over 190 senior appearances already to his name at just 23 years old, Wolfe brings valuable experience and dynamism to Wolves’ defensive ranks. His ability to contribute in both defensive and offensive phases makes him an ideal fit for the role vacated by Aït-Nouri.
