Tottenham Hotspur have reignited their pursuit of Crystal Palace talisman Eberechi Eze, with sources telling GIVEMESPORT on the latest episode of the Market Madness podcast that the England international would be open to making the switch to north London.
The renewed interest comes during a pivotal summer for Spurs, who have appointed Thomas Frank as head coach in a bid to usher in a more successful 2025/26 campaign. Early Summer Interest Revisited
Eze, widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s most creative and technically gifted midfielders, was a standout performer for Crystal Palace in their Community Shield victory over Liverpool last weekend. His appearance came despite sustained interest in his services from several top clubs throughout the summer.
Tottenham had explored a move for the 26-year-old earlier in the transfer window but initially chose to prioritise deals for Mohammed Kudus and Morgan Gibbs-White. At the time, Arsenal emerged as the most likely destination for Eze, with Spurs stepping back from negotiations.
Transfer Domino Effect
The Lilywhites have since secured the signing of Kudus from West Ham United in a high-profile deal. However, their pursuit of Gibbs-White ended in frustration despite chairman Daniel Levy meeting the £60m release clause in the Nottingham Forest midfielder’s contract. Forest disputed the legality of the clause, and following threats of a formal complaint, they convinced Gibbs-White to commit his future to the club with a new three-year deal.
That setback, coupled with Maddison’s long-term injury, has forced Tottenham to revisit their options — and Eze is once again at the top of the list.
Time Running Out
Eze’s contract at Selhurst Park includes a release clause worth an initial £60m, with an additional £8m potentially due in performance-related add-ons. Crucially, that clause is set to expire on Friday night, just 24 hours before the Premier League season kicks off. Spurs now face a race against the clock if they are to trigger the clause and bring the playmaker to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
With Arsenal still monitoring the situation and Crystal Palace keen to keep hold of their star man, Tottenham’s late push for Eze could become one of the defining transfer battles of the summer window.
