Sources: When Eberechi Eze could officially join Tottenham with agreement ‘nearly done’

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is preparing for a blockbuster finale to the summer transfer window, with sources indicating that he is ready to sanction another major deal in the coming days. The North London club have already made headlines by completing the £55 million signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United – a deal that currently stands as Spurs’ most expensive acquisition. But that record could be matched, or even surpassed, with Levy now deep in negotiations for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

 

According to GMS, Levy and Palace chairman Steve Parish are actively engaged in talks over a transfer package expected to be worth between £55m and £60m. The discussions come at a crucial time for Tottenham, who have been determined to bolster their attacking ranks following the high-profile departure of club legend Heung-min Son. The South Korean skipper left earlier this month in a move worth just over £20m, sealing a fresh chapter in Major League Soccer with Los Angeles FC. Son’s exit created both a void in quality and a gap in experience within Thomas Frank’s frontline, and Spurs see Eze as the perfect player to help fill that space.

 

While primarily viewed as a central playmaker who thrives in the No.10 role, Eze’s versatility is considered a huge asset. His ability to drift into wide areas adds tactical flexibility – something Frank is eager to inject into his system. Spurs remain optimistic about concluding the deal, with GMS reporting that an agreement in principle is already close, despite the England international featuring in Crystal Palace’s opening weekend 0-0 draw with Chelsea. Eze, who currently earns £100,000 per week at Selhurst Park, could officially become a Tottenham player before the weekend if Palace finalise an incoming deal. Such a development would see Thomas Frank add another high-profile weapon to his squad just days before Spurs host defending champions Manchester City in a mouth-watering early-season clash.
