Spurs holds internal talks on fans demand to sack Thomas Frank as Clear Favourite Emerges to Replace Him
Tottenham Hotspur supporters are growing increasingly vocal in their frustration, with many now calling for the dismissal of head coach Thomas Frank following a damaging 3-0 Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
Spurs endured a miserable afternoon in the East Midlands and were second best for long spells as Forest ruthlessly punished their mistakes. The hosts took the lead after 28 minutes when teenage midfielder Archie Gray was caught in possession on the edge of his own box after receiving a risky short pass from goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. Ibrahim Sangaré pounced on the loose ball and calmly rolled it across goal for Callum Hudson-Odoi, who had the simplest of tasks to tap home from close range.
That same Forest duo combined again shortly after the interval to double the advantage. Sangaré once more asserted himself in midfield before feeding Hudson-Odoi, whose intelligent movement and delivery caused Spurs all sorts of problems throughout the game. The midfielder then capped an outstanding individual performance by scoring Forest’s third in the 79th minute, rifling a stunning 25-yard strike into the net after being teed up by Hudson-Odoi to put the result beyond any doubt and seal a comfortable win for Sean Dyche’s side.
For Tottenham, it was a deeply concerning display. Frank’s men managed just one shot on target across the entire 90 minutes and rarely looked capable of mounting a serious response. Defensive errors, a lack of cohesion in midfield and a blunt attacking edge combined to produce what many fans described as one of the club’s worst performances of the season.
The defeat heaps further pressure on Frank, whose position is becoming increasingly precarious. Spurs have now won just one of their last seven Premier League fixtures, a run of form that has seen them slide down the table and drift away from the European places. Supporters have also been critical of Frank’s tactical approach, pointing to last month’s humiliating 4-1 defeat to Arsenal in the north London derby as a turning point that left many questioning the club’s direction.
While Tottenham’s European campaign has offered some encouragement — sitting 11th in their Champions League group with three wins and two draws from six matches — that position now mirrors their standing in the Premier League, underlining a sense of stagnation rather than progress.
The reaction from fans following the Forest loss was swift and unforgiving. One supporter wrote on social media: “Sack Frank at full-time. What I see is a group of players who are completely disinterested. They have not bought into the manager.” Another added: “He has turned us into Brentford. Sack him now.” A third fan went even further, saying: “If this Spurs board have any ambition, then they will sack Thomas Frank now. His job was to make us more organised and better than last season. He is incapable of doing that.”
Speculation over potential replacements has already intensified. According to Oddschecker, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is the 5/1 favourite with BetVictor to take over should Tottenham decide to act. Glasner’s contract at Selhurst Park expires in the summer, and the Austrian has been linked with high-profile roles at Manchester United and Liverpool in recent months.
However, both clubs appear unlikely destinations at present. Liverpool have dismissed just two managers in the past century despite growing scrutiny on Arne Slot, while Manchester United have shown signs of improvement under Ruben Amorim this season, easing immediate pressure on their hierarchy.
Fulham boss Marco Silva and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola are also prominent in the betting at 8/1, with both having earned praise for their work in the Premier League. Marseille head coach Roberto De Zerbi and former Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick — who represented Tottenham between 2004 and 2006 — are priced at 12/1. Notably, all but Carrick boast top-flight managerial experience in England, which could appeal to a Spurs board seeking a proven option.
Another name previously linked with the Tottenham job is Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, though his odds have drifted to 25/1, suggesting his chances are now considered slim.
With fan unrest growing and results continuing to disappoint, the coming weeks could prove decisive for Thomas Frank’s future in north London as Tottenham weigh up whether to persist with their current project or make a drastic change in the dugout.
