‘Here We Go’ – Tottenham get one last parting gift from Fabio Paratici

Tottenham Hotspur are fully aware that the clock is ticking on Fabio Paratici’s second stint in North London, with the Italian set to depart in the coming days to take up the role of Director of Football at Fiorentina. The timing and destination of his exit hardly reflect well on Spurs’ current situation.

If Paratici is prepared to leave the Lilywhites for a Fiorentina side enduring a disastrous 2025/26 campaign—one that has seen them slump to the bottom of Serie A and earn the unwanted label of one of Europe’s biggest underperformers—it speaks volumes about his lack of belief in the long-term project being overseen by Thomas Frank and Tottenham’s reshaped hierarchy.

That said, Fiorentina remain a historic and prestigious club, and Paratici’s reputation in Italy is well established. Before his initial move to Spurs, he built a strong CV as Juventus’ chief decision-maker, playing a central role in their domestic dominance. Even Tottenham supporters who may feel frustrated by his imminent exit will largely wish him well, particularly given that his brief return to the club was not without value.

Most notably, Paratici was instrumental in securing the loan signing of Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain, using his connections from his time in Turin to pull off a deal that offered Spurs a much-needed attacking boost.

However, even as he prepares to walk away, Paratici is still leaving his mark—this time in the form of an unexpected outgoing move that benefits Tottenham. In a twist few saw coming, this development has already been stamped with Fabrizio Romano’s iconic “Here We Go,” arriving before the more widely anticipated confirmation of Paratici’s own move to Florence or the potential sale of Brennan Johnson to London rivals Crystal Palace.

The first “Here We Go” arrives

According to Romano, as Fiorentina close in on officially unveiling Paratici as their new sporting director, they have also reached a verbal agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Manor Solomon. The Israeli winger is currently on loan at Villarreal, having joined the La Liga outfit last summer following a 2024/25 campaign spent with Leeds United in the Championship.

Solomon’s time in Spain has been thoroughly underwhelming. He has struggled to make any real impact at Villarreal, failing to convince that he belongs at their level and spending much of the season on the fringes. Nevertheless, Fiorentina’s dire circumstances mean that even a modest attacking contribution could prove valuable. While Solomon may not have excelled in La Liga, he does possess a natural instinct for goals when deployed on the left flank—something the Viola are desperately lacking.

Paratici’s familiarity with the player appears to be a key factor in the move. Knowing firsthand what Solomon can offer on his day, the Italian is clearly targeting additional goal output from wide areas as he looks to help drag Fiorentina away from the foot of the table. Romano reports that this will effectively be a “reset” loan, with Solomon’s temporary spell simply transferred from Villarreal to Fiorentina for the remainder of the season.

Crucially, though, this deal differs from Solomon’s current arrangement in one important respect. The new loan agreement will include an option to buy, giving Fiorentina the chance to make the move permanent should the winger rediscover form in Serie A. While the exact figure of the clause has not yet been disclosed, a medical is expected to take place shortly, paving the way for the transfer to be made official.

For Tottenham, the move represents a tidy piece of business—offloading a player who has failed to convince while keeping open the possibility of a permanent exit down the line. And fittingly, it is Paratici, even as he heads for the door, who delivers that small but timely parting gift.
