Jamie Reuben hails Newcastle’s ‘transformational’ £250m summer transfer window as Eddie Howe focuses on turning form around

Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben has shared his thoughts on what he describes as a “transformational” summer transfer window at St James’ Park – one that saw the Magpies spend big, reshape the squad, and reluctantly part ways with star striker Alexander Isak.

The Magpies invested close to £250million on six new signings while also overseeing the departure of several senior players. The scale of business conducted was unprecedented in recent years, with Reuben himself taking on added responsibilities after the departure of sporting director Paul Mitchell and former chief executive Darren Eales.

“It has been a very long window. Feeling delighted to have the team now in a really strong position,” Reuben said.

“Competition in every position and in a healthy financial state too. I think we turned over something like fifteen players plus since January, in and out, and that is why I believe this is a transformational window. We are really pleased with the players we’ve brought in.”

Reuben’s words will be music to the ears of Newcastle fans who had feared a lack of ambition following Isak’s departure. Instead, the club have emerged from the window with a deeper squad and the financial backing to remain competitive on all fronts.
