Breaking news- Tottenham announces two transfers, with Barcelona deal next after green light granted

Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the completion of two transfers and given the green light to another move involving Barcelona, according to recent reports.

This summer, Spurs have been active in the transfer market, making significant investments. The club broke their transfer record by signing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth for a total package worth £65 million, surpassing the previous record set by the £60 million paid for Richarlison in 2022. Additionally, Tottenham secured the services of Archie Gray from Leeds United for £40 million.

Swedish prodigy Lucas Bergvall joined Tottenham on July 1, following an agreement made during the winter transfer window. Meanwhile, South Korean winger Yang Min-hyuk is set to join the club in January 2025, with a similar arrangement. Timo Werner has also been re-signed on a loan deal.

In terms of departures, Tottenham have confirmed two exits, with another potential move on the horizon.

**Emerson Royal’s Move to AC Milan**

First, Tottenham have officially announced the permanent transfer of right-back Emerson Royal to AC Milan. The Serie A side has agreed to pay €15 million for the Brazilian defender, with an additional €2 million potentially coming in add-ons. Emerson has signed a four-year contract with an option for a fifth year at the San Siro.

Milan initially aimed to secure Emerson for just over €10 million, but increased their offer after Alessandro Florenzi suffered a significant knee injury during pre-season. Pedro Porro remains the preferred right-back for Spurs’ head coach Ange Postecoglou, with new signing Archie Gray capable of covering the position and Djed Spence still part of the squad. However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Tottenham may seek a replacement for Emerson, with a Manchester City player reportedly on their radar.

Dane Scarlett’s Loan Move

In another development, Tottenham have confirmed that striker Dane Scarlett has joined Oxford United on a season-long loan to the Championship club. This loan does not include an option or obligation to buy, meaning Scarlett will return to Spurs at the end of the season.

Scarlett expressed his excitement about the move, saying, “I’m over the moon to be here and I’m ready to get started. The team did really well last season and I see an opportunity here for myself. Oxford was the best option for me to prove myself and show what I can do. I’m a team player who will look to bring goals and hopefully we can deliver this season.”

Potential Move for Sergio Reguilon

Another Tottenham player possibly on the move is left-back Sergio Reguilon. The 27-year-old Spaniard, who spent last season on loan at Manchester United and Brentford, is surplus to requirements at Spurs. With Reguilon’s contract entering its final year and no new deal anticipated, Tottenham are keen to capitalize on his value while they still can.

Recent reports from Sky Sports and Spanish outlet Sport have indicated that Barcelona is interested in Reguilon to strengthen their left-back options. Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick, has reportedly approved the move, with discussions focused on a permanent deal for a nominal fee. While Tottenham’s investment of approximately £32 million for Reguilon (including add-ons) might make a minimal return seem unappealing, any fee would be preferable to letting Reguilon leave on a free transfer at the end of his contract. Additionally, selling Reguilon now would allow Tottenham to clear his salary from their books a year earlier.
