Tottenham Hotspur might be on the brink of securing another new signing sooner than expected, as their target’s current club is close to finalizing a deal for a replacement in the final stages of the transfer window.
The swift nature of Tottenham’s business was on full display when they secured the signing of Wilson Odobert. News of Spurs’ interest in the then-Burnley winger broke, and within an hour, the club had announced the arrival of the teenage sensation in a deal reportedly valued at over £25 million. This addition bolsters Ange Postecoglou’s attacking options as they gear up for the new Premier League season.
Although Odobert is not expected to obtain a work permit in time for Tottenham’s Premier League opener against Leicester City, the young winger expressed his excitement and admiration for his new club. In his first interview as a Spurs player, Odobert shared his thoughts: “Tottenham is a massive club with big ambitions, and I feel that my ambitions align perfectly with theirs. We’re on the same page in terms of what we want to achieve.”

Odobert becomes Tottenham’s fourth senior signing of the summer, following the club-record acquisition of Dominic Solanke, the high-profile addition of teenage prospect Archie Gray, and the return of Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig.
As Tottenham continues to reshape their squad, departures are expected, with Oliver Skipp nearing a move to Leicester City. Additionally, both Giovani Lo Celso and Manor Solomon have been put up for sale. However, Spurs may not be done with their incoming transfers just yet, as a recent development suggests another signing could be imminent.
French club Monaco is reportedly close to finalizing a deal for PSV Eindhoven’s right-back Jordan Teze, a transfer worth around £9 million. This move comes amidst speculation that Spurs are interested in Monaco’s current right-back, Vanderson. Recent reports indicate that Tottenham is preparing a bid for the Brazilian defender, with the club reportedly ready to offer €32 million (£27.2 million) to bring him to North London.
Vanderson, who still has four years remaining on his £49,500 per week contract in Monaco, has been linked with a move away throughout the summer. According to Foot Mercato, via Sport Witness, Monaco is now expecting Vanderson’s departure, with Brazilian sources claiming that Tottenham’s offer is on the table.
However, it remains uncertain if this offer will be sufficient to persuade Monaco to part ways with Vanderson, as previous reports suggested they were holding out for €40 million (£34 million). Nevertheless, with Monaco seemingly securing a replacement, they might be more open to negotiating a deal.
Should Vanderson make the switch to Tottenham, it could spell the end of Djed Spence’s time at the club. Despite Ange Postecoglou expressing his admiration for Spence’s performances in pre-season and stating his desire to keep the player, Pedro Porro is clearly the Australian manager’s preferred choice for the right-back position at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
