Tottenham Midfielder Requires Oxygen Following Severe Mid-Air Collision

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur required oxygen after a serious mid-air collision during the second half of the match against Leicester City.

Bentancur was injured following a corner, and both teams immediately called for medical assistance. He was subsequently stretchered off the field after receiving initial treatment.

The collision involved a clash of heads with Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu, resulting in a visible cut above Bentancur’s eye. Images from the incident suggest that Bentancur was rendered unconscious.

After an eight-minute stoppage, Bentancur was carried off the pitch while receiving oxygen. Medical staff from both teams attended to him, and players from both sides gathered around with visible concern.

Sky Sports later reported that Bentancur was conscious and speaking in the dressing room. Tottenham’s team doctor confirmed that he would continue to be monitored in accordance with Premier League concussion protocols.

In response to the incident, Tottenham posted a supportive message on social media: “We’re all with you, Lolo.” Leicester City also conveyed their well wishes: “Sending our best wishes to you, Rodrigo.”

Fatawu appeared to be unscathed from the collision. Bentancur was replaced by Archie Gray, who made his debut for Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou.

The Spurs midfielder was applauded off the field by supporters from all corners of the King Power Stadium. This incident follows a previous injury where Bentancur ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in February 2023, which sidelined him for eight months.
