“Eight goals in nine games?, that’s not normal” Premier League manager praises Newcastle top target.

Newcastle United’s Frontline in Need of Revitalization

Newcastle United’s attacking lineup is in need of a refresh. Although Eddie Howe’s team can be prolific when they hit their stride, this season has highlighted difficulties in finding the back of the net consistently. This situation has been particularly frustrating given that the club aimed to bolster their squad with a new right-winger during the summer transfer window. Unfortunately, their efforts to secure Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest fell short, leaving them without the fresh talent they sought.

With this in mind, Newcastle’s management is reportedly shifting their focus toward the January transfer window, prioritizing the acquisition of both a new winger and possibly an additional striker. This strategic pivot comes after their initial pursuit of defender Marc Guehi.

One of the key names emerging as a potential target is Bryan Mbeumo, the standout forward from Brentford. The 25-year-old Cameroonian international has caught the attention of Newcastle’s hierarchy, highlighting their admiration for his skill set and potential impact on the team.

Mbeumo is currently enjoying an impressive season. Following Brentford’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Ipswich, in which he netted two goals, he has now scored eight times in just nine appearances. Bees manager Thomas Frank has been vocal in his praise for Mbeumo, stating that his remarkable scoring record is “not normal” for a winger. Frank emphasized the significance of Mbeumo’s performance, noting, “How many goals is it now, eight in nine games? That’s hugely impressive from a winger in a team in the middle of the Premier League; that’s not normal” (via the Ealing Times).

The prospect of signing Mbeumo has excited Newcastle fans, particularly after witnessing his recent displays. Given his age and proven track record in the Premier League, Mbeumo fits the profile that Newcastle’s owners, PIF, have favored since their takeover. His best years are ahead of him, and many supporters believe that bringing him to St James’ Park would be a thrilling addition to the squad.

Moreover, considering some of the club’s recent transfer decisions that have raised eyebrows, securing Mbeumo would not only address immediate needs in the attack but also serve as a statement of intent from Newcastle. With his ability to change games and contribute significantly in front of goal, Mbeumo could be the catalyst that revitalizes Newcastle’s frontline as they aim to improve their fortunes this season.
