Tottenham Hotspur have announced the departure of Robert Vilahamn from his role as head coach of the women’s team, marking yet another significant change at the North London club during a turbulent week of transitions.

Vilahamn’s exit comes on the heels of men’s manager Ange Postecoglou’s departure earlier in the week, as Spurs undergo a broad restructuring process across both football operations and executive leadership. The shake-up reflects the club’s response to underwhelming performances and a growing demand for change.

The Swedish coach, who took charge of Tottenham Women in 2022, initially made a strong impact. In his first season, he guided the team to a top-half finish in the Women’s Super League (WSL) and led them to their first-ever FA Cup final — a landmark achievement in the club’s history. However, that early promise faded during the most recent campaign. Spurs struggled for form and consistency, ultimately finishing 11th in the WSL — just one spot above relegation.

In an official statement, the club confirmed the move:
“We can confirm that women’s first team head coach Robert Vilahamn has left the club.”

Tottenham Women managing director Andy Rogers reflected on Vilahamn’s tenure with mixed emotions, acknowledging both the milestones and the setbacks.

“There have been some special moments during Robert’s time here, particularly the historic run to the FA Cup final,” said Rogers. “However, performances and results this season have not met the standards we strive for. We feel that now is the appropriate moment to take the team in a new direction. We would like to thank Robert for his dedication, professionalism, and contributions over the past two seasons, and we wish him every success in the future.”

Vilahamn’s departure adds to a growing list of changes at Tottenham this week. In addition to the exits of both Vilahamn and Postecoglou, the club has seen major movement at the executive level. Donna Cullen, long regarded as chairman Daniel Levy’s close advisor and a prominent figure on the Spurs board, stepped down on Monday. Her departure coincided with the arrival of Vinai Venkatesham, the former Arsenal managing director, who officially began his tenure as Tottenham’s new chief executive on the same day.

These sweeping changes signal a major period of transition and introspection at Tottenham, as the club looks to reset and reestablish its ambitions both on and off the pitch.
