“He set out to achieve something and he achieved it,” Gold explained. “He’s been at the club for ten years, and it’s important to consider some of the comments he made ahead of the final. He told the Korean media—and later the English press—that he stayed at Tottenham largely because he wanted to win a trophy.”

 

With Tottenham’s recent success in securing silverware, Gold suggested that Son may now feel his mission at the club is complete. “Had he won a trophy earlier, he might have considered leaving sooner. But now that he’s finally achieved that goal, I understand that this is the most open he’s ever been to a potential move—if the right offer comes along.”
