Sky Sport: Tottenham now set to sign ‘phenomenal’ £70m South American forward, club open to sale
Tottenham Closely Monitoring Manchester United Star Alejandro Garnacho Amid Premier League Transfer Scramble
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping a watchful eye on Manchester United’s highly-rated winger Alejandro Garnacho, as the North London club begins to shape its summer transfer plans. According to MailOnline, Spurs are one of several Premier League clubs interested in the dynamic Argentine youngster, with Chelsea and Aston Villa also keeping tabs on the situation unfolding at Old Trafford.
The 20-year-old, who has emerged as one of the brightest prospects from Manchester United’s academy in recent years, is widely expected to leave the club during the upcoming transfer window. Despite mounting interest from abroad—most notably from Italian champions Napoli—Garnacho is believed to be prioritising a move that would allow him to stay in the Premier League, where he has already started to make a name for himself.
Manchester United, under new management and facing a critical summer rebuild, are said to be open to selling Garnacho—but only for the right price. The club has reportedly slapped a hefty £70 million valuation on the winger, hoping to cash in on one of their most valuable young assets as they prepare to back incoming manager Rúben Amorim with significant reinforcements.
Garnacho’s price tag has already cooled interest from Bayer Leverkusen, who were initially exploring the possibility of reuniting the Argentina international with former United boss Erik ten Hag, now at the helm in Germany. However, any move abroad appears unlikely, as sources suggest Garnacho is focused on continuing his development in England’s top flight.
Set to turn 21 next month, Garnacho remains under contract with Manchester United until 2028, placing the club in a strong negotiating position. Yet with United planning a substantial overhaul of their forward line, the sale of the talented winger could help fund key signings elsewhere. In addition to Garnacho, the Red Devils are also reportedly open to offers for Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho, as Amorim looks to refresh the squad for what will be his first full season in charge.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are preparing to make their first major signing of the summer. The club is on the verge of finalising a deal for Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel, who spent last season on loan at Spurs. While the original purchase option was set at £45 million, negotiations with the German giants have reportedly resulted in a reduced fee of around £30 million—a move that could free up funds for Spurs to pursue additional attacking reinforcements, including Garnacho.
With the summer transfer window heating up, Tottenham’s interest in Garnacho signals their intent to continue building a squad capable of competing at the top end of the Premier League table. As the situation develops, all eyes will be on whether the North London side will make a formal approach for the exciting Argentine talent—or if one of their domestic rivals will beat them to the punch.
