Tottenham front-runners to sign Koni De Winter

Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race for the signature of Crystal Palace defensive target Koni De Winter.Tottenham are looking to add more quality and depth to their backline ahead of next season, and they have their eyes set on Koni De Winter. According to Corriere dello Sport via SportWitness, Spurs are front-runners to sign the Genoa sensation, who is also on the wishlist of Crystal Palace.

While things didn’t work out for De Winter at Juventus, the move to Genoa has helped him establish himself as one of the best young defenders in the Serie A. He initially joined them on a season-long loan back in 2023 before the move was made permanent last summer. The 23-year-old centre-back was one of the standout performers for Genoa last season. He was involved in a total of 26 matches and even contributed towards three goals. His ability to feature anywhere across the backline has caught the attention of quite a few top clubs.

While he still has three years left on his deal, he could still be on the move this summer if the right offer arrives. Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan have both been linked with the youngster, but it seems he could be heading to the Premier League, where Crystal Palace and Tottenham are keen on signing him.Genoa currently value him at around €30 million, and they have no intentions of lowering that fee. The Italian clubs will certainly struggle to compete with the Premier League clubs when it comes to the financial side of things. With Marc Guehi’s future uncertain, De Winter could come in to replace him at Palace. His versatility could be an added advantage for Oliver Glasner. But it seems they are playing catch-up at this stage. The Eagles were very keen on his signature before Spurs moved into the picture.

Thomas Frank seeks more options at the back, and people at the club feel De Winter could help their cause. He could help them both in the short as well as long run. The North London club have scouted him on multiple occasions during the 2024/25 season, and they are set to push hard for his signature.Tottenham are front-runners for his signature, and if all goes according to plan, they could secure his services in time for the start of next season.
