Ramsey has found consistent game time hard to come by under Unai Emery, and reports earlier this year indicated that the midfielder was growing “unhappy” with his role at Villa Park. It’s believed that his lack of regular starts has prompted him to consider a change of scenery, with Tottenham now pushing to capitalize on the situation.
New Spurs manager Thomas Frank is said to be a big admirer of Ramsey’s dynamic playing style and has given his approval for the club to pursue a deal. Additionally, Ramsey has been on Tottenham’s radar for some time, with their recruitment team reportedly tracking his performances throughout the 2024/25 season.
Sources suggest that Villa are open to selling their academy graduate as they look to raise funds to help balance the books amid pressure from the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). A sale of Ramsey, a homegrown player, would represent pure profit on Villa’s financial books, making him a prime candidate for departure this summer.
“Tottenham have been looking at Jacob Ramsey,” Brown told Football Insider. “Thomas Frank rates him highly, and Spurs have maintained a long-standing interest in him. Their scouts have been watching him closely and have already reached out to his agent to understand what kind of deal it would take to get him.”
Brown continued, “Ramsey has been unsure about his long-term prospects at Villa. He wants to be a regular starter, and if that opportunity isn’t going to come under Unai Emery, then moving to Tottenham might be the best option for his development. It would give him a fresh start and a platform to grow under a manager who clearly believes in him.”
From Villa’s perspective, parting ways with Ramsey may be a strategic financial move. The club has been actively trying to comply with PSR regulations, and cashing in on academy talents like Ramsey would allow them to generate immediate profit while freeing up room in the squad for reinforcements.
Spurs Also Monitoring Antoine Semenyo – But Face Steep Asking Price

This stance echoes Brown’s previous comments in October, when he predicted that Bournemouth would demand a premium fee for Semenyo, knowing that his value would skyrocket following his breakthrough season.
For Tottenham, the focus may now shift more heavily toward completing a deal for Ramsey, given the more realistic nature of that transfer compared to the expensive pursuit of Semenyo.
