Fabrizio Romano: Nelson Semedo Portuguese Full-Back on the move to Join Fenerbahce After Confirming Wolves Departure

Portuguese right-back Nelson Semedo is on the verge of beginning a new chapter in his footballing career following his official departure from Wolverhampton Wanderers. After weeks of speculation surrounding his future, the 30-year-old has finally confirmed that his time at Molineux has come to an end.

Semedo’s exit has left Wolves fans both disappointed and reflective, especially given how instrumental he has been since joining the club from Barcelona in 2020. The club had made a significant attempt to retain his services, offering him a new four-year contract in hopes of securing his future in the West Midlands. However, despite the offer and strong desire from the club to keep him, signs over recent weeks suggested that the defender had set his sights elsewhere.

Today, the speculation was put to rest when Semedo took to social media to officially announce his departure from the Premier League side. In doing so, he thanked Wolves fans for their support and signaled the closing of an important chapter in his professional journey.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had earlier reported that several clubs from Turkey were interested in securing Semedo’s signature. It now appears that one of them has succeeded. Romano has now confirmed that Fenerbahce have won the race for Semedo, and the deal is described as being fully agreed upon.

“Nelson Semedo to Fenerbahçe, here we go!” Romano wrote on social media. “The Portuguese fullback is currently on his way to Istanbul. The deal is done – he will be a surprise addition for Fenerbahçe, who are also pursuing Milan Škriniar under the direction of sporting director Devin Özek.”

The move to Istanbul will mark the latest chapter in Semedo’s career, which began at Benfica and included a high-profile transfer to Barcelona before his move to the Premier League. At Wolves, Semedo made over 140 appearances across all competitions, becoming a reliable figure under multiple managers.

For Fenerbahce, this signing is a significant reinforcement as they gear up for a season filled with high expectations, both domestically and in European competition. With the arrival of an experienced and technically sound full-back like Semedo, the Turkish giants are signaling their intent to seriously challenge for silverware.

The move is expected to be finalized in the coming days following a medical and the signing of a long-term contract.
