Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly ruled out the possibility of signing one of their rumoured summer midfield targets, according to trusted insider Paul O’Keefe. As the clock ticks down to their UEFA Super Cup showdown against Paris Saint-Germain in just over two weeks, Spurs continue to explore their options in the transfer market—but not everyone on the wishlist is a realistic acquisition.

 

Throughout the summer, Spurs have been persistently linked with several English midfielders as they look to bolster their creative options. One of the most prominent names on their radar was Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White. However, hopes of bringing the talented playmaker to North London were dashed when he committed his future to Forest by signing a fresh three-year deal.

 

In the wake of that snub, speculation quickly turned to possible alternatives. Among those mentioned were Harvey Elliott of Liverpool, Jacob Ramsey of Aston Villa, and James McAtee from Manchester City. Despite the links, Paul O’Keefe has now moved to shut down rumours surrounding one of those targets.

 

Taking to social media, O’Keefe stated unequivocally that Tottenham will not be pursuing a deal for Jacob Ramsey during this transfer window. The well-connected insider added that figures within the club are “decidedly against” making a move for the Aston Villa midfielder, suggesting Ramsey does not align with the club’s current transfer strategy or financial considerations.

 

Ramsey, who has been a key player for Aston Villa under Unai Emery, would likely command a significant fee—potentially a deterrent for Spurs, who are being selective in their summer business.

 

Meanwhile, attention appears to have shifted toward Harvey Elliott, who has emerged as one of the more serious targets. The Liverpool midfielder is being strongly linked with a potential switch to North London, with reports suggesting Brentford boss Thomas Frank is prepared to hand Elliott the coveted number ten role if he chooses Spurs over other suitors.

 

However, signing Elliott would be far from straightforward. Liverpool reportedly value the 21-year-old highly and are not keen to part ways with him unless they receive a substantial offer. Some sources have claimed that it would take in excess of £50 million to prise him away from Anfield this summer.

 

Tottenham’s midfield search continues to generate plenty of discussion, with fans increasingly eager for concrete movement. With the new season fast approaching and pressure mounting, Spurs are under growing scrutiny to deliver reinforcements that can help them compete on multiple fronts.
