Fabrizio Romano: Everton Making Strong Progress in Bid to Sign Jack Grealish on Loan
Everton are making significant strides towards completing a sensational deal to bring Manchester City winger Jack Grealish to Merseyside on a season-long loan, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Toffees, who enjoyed a much more comfortable campaign under returning manager David Moyes, are aiming to strengthen their squad with top-quality additions ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season. Moyes, who came back to Goodison Park in January 2025—12 years after his first spell in charge ended—successfully guided Everton away from relegation danger. While a potential deal for Southampton’s promising attacker Tyler Dibling has stalled—largely due to Everton’s reluctance to meet the Saints’ high valuation—the Merseyside outfit have shifted focus towards securing a high-profile attacking reinforcement in Grealish.

Grealish, who joined Manchester City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a then-British record fee of £100 million, has had an up-and-down spell at the Etihad. While he played a role in City’s domestic and European successes, his performances have often been scrutinised, with the 2024/25 season proving particularly challenging. Struggling for form and limited playing time under Pep Guardiola, the England international’s future came into question—especially after the arrival of French star Rayan Cherki, whose presence is likely to further reduce Grealish’s opportunities.
A loan move to Everton could offer the 29-year-old a much-needed fresh start. Without the heavy burden of his record-breaking transfer fee, Grealish might find the freedom to play with the same flair, creativity, and confidence that made him a standout at Aston Villa. His ability to unlock defences, carry the ball with composure, and deliver in key moments could significantly enhance Moyes’ attacking options.
