The 24-year-old Ghanaian midfielder, who arrived in North London this summer in a £55 million transfer from West Ham United, started and played 79 minutes in the showpiece clash. Despite Spurs’ heart-breaking penalty shootout defeat to the French champions, Kudus impressed with his skill, work rate, and attacking flair — giving fans a promising taste of what he could bring under new manager Thomas Frank.
At just 24, Kudus combines youth with top-level experience, making him a player who can both make an instant impact and serve as a cornerstone for Spurs’ long-term ambitions. His ability to operate across multiple attacking positions — as a central playmaker, winger, or even centre-forward — offers Frank valuable tactical flexibility heading into the 2025/26 Premier League season.
However, Tottenham’s summer transfer business is far from complete. Despite investing heavily in Kudus, Frank and the club’s recruitment team are still actively hunting for more firepower in the final third. Spurs eye further attacking reinforcements
One of the most prominent names linked to Tottenham in recent days is Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are also monitoring Manchester City’s Brazilian forward Savinho, who only joined Pep Guardiola’s side from Girona less than a year ago. Reports suggest Spurs are prepared to test City’s resolve with a £60 million offer, and the player himself is believed to be open to a move before the September 1 deadline.
Savinho vs Kudus — why the Brazilian could be the bigger coup
Kudus has already shown glimpses of his quality. Against PSG, he boasted a perfect 100% crossing accuracy and created three chances — more than any other player on the pitch. His technical skill, combined with his ability to drift between positions, makes him a dangerous asset in Frank’s system. If he can add consistent goals to his game, Spurs will have secured a player capable of transforming their attack.
Yet Savinho’s profile suggests he could take Tottenham’s frontline to another level entirely. Last season, the 21-year-old Brazilian recorded more combined goals and assists than Kudus, while also excelling in key underlying metrics. He registered a higher shot-on-target percentage, completed more successful take-ons, and carried the ball into the opposition box with greater frequency. His dribbling threat and directness in the final third could provide the extra attacking presence Spurs have been missing.
In addition to his goal threat, Savinho also showcased strong creative numbers, delivering more successful crosses per 90 minutes than Kudus. Journalist Adam Keys has described him as “sensational” — and with his blend of pace, technique, and vision, it’s easy to see why Frank views him as an ideal addition.
The big-money gamble Spurs must take
Signing Kudus for £55 million was already a statement of intent, but following it up with another marquee £60 million deal for Savinho would underline Tottenham’s determination to compete at the very top. While it would represent a huge financial outlay, Frank’s ambition is clear: assemble a frontline capable of frightening any defence in the Premier League.
