Tottenham To Offer West Ham Swap Deal To Complete £85m Mateus Fernandes Transfer

Tottenham Hotspur are exploring an inventive approach in their pursuit of highly-rated Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes, with reports suggesting the North London club are willing to include players in a potential swap deal to convince West Ham United to part ways with the talented youngster this summer.

Spurs have already held discussions with Fernandes and his representatives as they look to bring the 21-year-old to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, negotiations remain challenging, with West Ham standing firm on their valuation of around £85 million. The Hammers are under no immediate pressure to sell and are hoping interest from multiple Premier League clubs will drive the asking price even higher.

Manchester United remain one of Tottenham’s biggest rivals in the race for Fernandes, with both clubs actively working behind the scenes to strike an agreement. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the midfielder has not chosen between the two destinations and is prepared to join whichever club can successfully negotiate a deal with West Ham.

Romano explained that Fernandes is fully open to both sporting projects, meaning the outcome will ultimately depend on which club can satisfy West Ham’s financial demands. Beyond the transfer fee itself, the structure of the payments is expected to play a crucial role, with the East London club placing significant importance on instalments and payment schedules.

In an effort to gain an advantage over Manchester United, Tottenham are reportedly considering a player-plus-cash proposal. Reports from West Ham insiders, including ExWHUEmployee via WestHam_Central, claim Spurs have already offered players as part of discussions in an attempt to reduce the overall transfer cost.

One name believed to have been included in those conversations is highly-rated academy graduate Mikey Moore. The 18-year-old winger enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Rangers during the 2025/26 campaign, making 47 appearances across all competitions while scoring seven goals and providing four assists. His exciting performances in Scotland further enhanced his reputation as one of Tottenham’s brightest young talents.

Although many Spurs supporters were hoping to see Moore become a regular part of the first-team squad next season, Tottenham’s absence from European competition could limit opportunities for the teenager. As a result, another temporary move could prove beneficial for his development.

The proposed arrangement would reportedly see Moore join West Ham on loan as part of the Fernandes transfer package, giving the youngster the opportunity to gain valuable Premier League experience while helping the Hammers strengthen their squad.

With Crysencio Summerville also attracting transfer interest following West Ham’s relegation, Moore could provide an exciting replacement on the wing as the club aims for an immediate return to the Premier League. Meanwhile, Tottenham would move one step closer to landing one of their priority midfield targets, adding another promising young star to Roberto De Zerbi’s rebuilding project ahead of the new season.
