Belgian giants Anderlecht are closing in on the signing of Finland international Oliver Antman from Rangers after reaching an agreement worth more than £4 million, bringing the winger’s short spell at Ibrox to an early conclusion.

The deal represents positive business for Rangers, who are set to make a modest profit on a player they signed only a year ago. Antman arrived in Glasgow during the summer of 2025 after joining from Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles for a reported £3 million, signing a four-year contract as part of an ambitious recruitment drive under former manager Russell Martin.
At the time, Antman was viewed as an exciting addition capable of adding pace, creativity and attacking flair to the Rangers frontline. Over the course of the 2025/26 campaign, Antman featured in 28 matches across all competitions. His overall return of one goal and five assists fell well below expectations, leaving him unable to establish himself as a key figure at Ibrox. While there were moments that hinted at his technical ability and willingness to take on defenders, those performances were too infrequent to convince the coaching staff that he should be a regular starter.
The winger’s future became increasingly uncertain following managerial changes at Rangers.
Neither former managerial target Danny Rohl nor current manager Derek McInnes viewed the Finland international as an essential part of their long-term plans. Once McInnes took charge during the summer, it quickly became apparent that Antman would be allowed to leave should an acceptable offer arrive.
Rather than keeping an unhappy squad player, Rangers opted to remain open to negotiations, believing a transfer would benefit both the club and the player. McInnes has been keen to reshape the squad in line with his own tactical philosophy, with several players from the previous regime already departing or facing uncertain futures.

Anderlecht have made strengthening their attacking department one of their priorities this summer as they aim to challenge for major honours in Belgium. Club officials believe Antman possesses the pace, dribbling ability and creativity needed to add another dimension to their forward line.
His international experience also played a significant role in their decision.
Despite enduring a frustrating spell at Rangers, Antman remains a regular member of the Finland national team and has already earned 31 senior international caps. Those appearances have demonstrated his ability on the international stage, and Anderlecht are confident that a fresh environment could help him rediscover the form that first attracted Rangers to sign him.
For Antman himself, the move represents an opportunity to restart his club career after a difficult year in Glasgow. At 24 years old, he still has plenty of time to fulfill his potential, and a transfer to the Belgian Pro League could provide the regular playing time he has been seeking.
Rangers, meanwhile, view the transfer as sensible business both financially and strategically. Recovering around £4.5 million for a player who never became a first-team regular strengthens the club’s financial position while freeing up space within the squad for new arrivals.
