Tottenham Hotspur’s ambitious pursuit of Bournemouth sensation Eli Junior Kroupi has been thrown into dramatic uncertainty after the highly-rated striker suffered a major injury setback that could completely reshape Spurs’ summer transfer plans.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham were preparing to make a serious move for the 20-year-old forward after identifying him as one of their top attacking targets. However, Kroupi’s unfortunate injury during Bournemouth’s pre-season training camp in Austria has forced the North London club to slam the brakes on their plans.
The latest development could mean Tottenham will now have to wait until 2027 to make their blockbuster move for the French-born striker, despite previously being prepared to spend a staggering £80 million to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kroupi’s first season in English football was nothing short of sensational. The Bournemouth forward announced himself on the Premier League stage by scoring 13 goals in 33 appearances, playing a major role in helping the Cherries secure European football.
His performances immediately attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Tottenham were reportedly leading the chase, while Arsenal and Barcelona have also been monitoring the youngster’s rapid development.
Spurs’ interest had reportedly reached an advanced stage, with the club believed to be preparing an opening proposal for the attacker.
