Tottenham’s Transfer Masterplan EXPOSED: Two Stars Targeted as Spurs Wait for Liverpool Green Light

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly turning up the pressure in their hunt for attacking reinforcements, with Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo emerging as one of the club’s most intriguing targets despite Spurs simultaneously making progress on a potential deal for Manchester City star Savinho.

According to information from contacts with links to the agents industry, Tottenham are “actively working on both” potential transfers as manager Roberto De Zerbi looks determined to transform his attacking options before the new season gets fully underway.

The situation surrounding Savinho appears considerably more advanced. The Brazilian winger has reportedly informed Manchester City that he wants the move, giving Tottenham renewed confidence that a deal could eventually be completed.

But behind the scenes, Tottenham are also keeping a very close eye on Gakpo.

The Liverpool forward could become available this summer, although his potential departure appears to depend heavily on whether Liverpool can strengthen their own attack. The Reds remain interested in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, and until Liverpool secure adequate replacements, Gakpo could remain an important part of their plans.

That has created an intriguing transfer standoff.

Tottenham are believed to be ready to move quickly if Liverpool finally give Gakpo the green light, with the north London club continuing to monitor developments rather than abandoning their interest.

Gakpo’s situation at Anfield has attracted plenty of attention after what has been described as a difficult spell, potentially opening the door to a fresh challenge. A move to Tottenham could give the Netherlands international the opportunity to become a central figure in De Zerbi’s attacking plans.

However, Liverpool are understandably reluctant to weaken their squad without first bringing in another major attacking option.

Their pursuit of Barcola could prove decisive. The French international is considered a complicated and expensive target, meaning Liverpool may need considerable time and investment to get a deal over the line. There is still no absolute guarantee that the transfer will happen.

Nevertheless, there is growing belief that Barcola could eventually become available, particularly with PSG adding attacking options of their own and questions surrounding his long-term future in Paris.

If Liverpool manage to secure Barcola, the entire Gakpo situation could suddenly change.

Tottenham could then have the opening they have been waiting for.

The potential availability of Gakpo would represent a major opportunity for Spurs, especially considering the club’s determination to dramatically improve its attacking firepower. Tottenham have already shown during this transfer window that they are prepared to spend heavily when De Zerbi identifies a player capable of making a major difference.

Newcastle United are also believed to admire Gakpo, although their interest has reportedly failed to progress because of the winger’s asking price. Bayern Munich previously showed interest but have not renewed that pursuit this summer.

For Tottenham, however, the situation looks particularly interesting because their interest in both Gakpo and Savinho demonstrates just how aggressively the club is searching for attacking quality.

Rather than settling for one option, Spurs appear to be keeping multiple doors open.

Savinho may currently be the more realistic target, but Gakpo could become the blockbuster opportunity if Liverpool finally secure the attacking reinforcements they need.

That means Tottenham fans could be facing an explosive final phase of the transfer window.

If Liverpool make progress on Barcola, Spurs could immediately accelerate their pursuit of Gakpo. And if Tottenham were somehow able to land both Gakpo and Savinho, De Zerbi’s attacking unit could look almost unrecognisable compared with last season.

For now, Gakpo remains a player Tottenham are watching closely, with the club seemingly waiting for the right moment to strike.

The message from north London is clear: Spurs want more firepower, and they appear prepared to spend big to get it.
