Guglielmo Vicario’s Tottenham Hotspur chapter appears to be coming to a dramatic end, with the Italian goalkeeper completing his move to Juventus on loan after months of speculation over his future in north London.
Vicario arrived at Spurs in 2023 and quickly established himself as a key figure between the posts. However, after an injury-hit campaign and growing reports that the goalkeeper wanted to return to Italy, a summer departure increasingly looked inevitable. Now, that prediction has become reality, with Juventus securing his services on an initial loan deal.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Vicario has signed his contract with Juventus. The agreement is understood to be a free loan featuring an €8 million buy option, which is not mandatory, alongside a potential €2 million in add-ons.
For Tottenham, the arrangement may not be the immediate financial windfall they would have preferred, but it gives the club an opportunity to secure a future transfer fee while allowing Vicario to pursue his long-awaited return to Italian football. Juventus, meanwhile, have the chance to assess the goalkeeper closely before deciding whether to make the move permanent.
Vicario’s departure is still a significant moment for Spurs. Since arriving from Empoli, the Italy international has made 93 league appearances for the club and has produced countless impressive performances. His shot-stopping ability, confidence and willingness to play out from the back made him an important part of Tottenham’s team.
His time in north London was not without difficulties. Injuries affected his consistency last season, while questions surrounding his long-term future continued to grow. Yet there was never any doubt about his commitment to Tottenham whenever he stepped onto the pitch.

Tottenham legend Les Ferdinand also highlighted Vicario’s strengths, particularly his ability to make crucial saves when his team needed him most. While Ferdinand acknowledged that dealing with crosses was not necessarily Vicario’s biggest strength, he ranked the Italian among the best shot-stoppers.
That assessment perfectly captures Vicario’s Tottenham career. He may not have been flawless, but when Spurs desperately needed a big save, he repeatedly demonstrated the ability to produce one.
Now, however, a new chapter awaits.
A move to Juventus represents a major opportunity for Vicario to return to Serie A and rebuild his reputation in his homeland. For Tottenham, it signals another major change under De Zerbi as the club continues reshaping its squad.
