Tottenham agree to sell 26-G/A star for £70M
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly prepared to listen to offers for star midfielder as the summer transfer window enters its final days. Sources have indicated that the North London club could allow Senegal international pape sarr to leave if a suitable proposal arrives before the deadline.
The 23-year-old midfielder is also understood to be open to the possibility of moving away from Tottenham, particularly after it became increasingly clear that he does not appear to be part of Roberto De Zerbi’s long-term plans at the club.
Sarr has attracted interest from several clubs, with Galatasaray emerging as one of the teams most determined to secure his signature. The Turkish giants are reportedly preparing to make a strong attempt to bring the midfielder to Istanbul before the transfer window closes.
However, Galatasaray may face competition from clubs within the Premier League who are also monitoring Sarr’s situation. While the player has options, a move to Turkey could depend heavily on whether he is prepared to take a step down in terms of the level of competition.
Sarr’s Tottenham future looks increasingly uncertain
Sarr has been regarded as one of Tottenham’s most promising young midfielders since joining the club, but his importance to the first-team setup appears to have declined significantly.
The Senegal international started just 13 Premier League matches for Spurs last season, highlighting the difficulty he has had in securing a regular starting position. His situation has become even more uncertain after he was left out of Tottenham’s squad for their defeat against Brentford last weekend.
The arrival of major midfield reinforcements has also made competition for places even tougher. The additions of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali have strengthened De Zerbi’s options in the middle of the pitch and could push Sarr further down the pecking order.
With limited opportunities potentially available, Sarr is believed to be considering his future carefully. At his age, regular first-team football is particularly important for his development, and he may feel that leaving Tottenham would give him a better chance to play consistently.
Tottenham, meanwhile, could also benefit financially from his departure. After spending heavily during the summer transfer window, the club may be willing to cash in on players who are no longer considered central to the manager’s plans.
Galatasaray pushing to sign the midfielder
Galatasaray are reportedly keen to take advantage of Sarr’s uncertain position and are hoping to convince him to move to Turkey.
The Turkish club has an additional few days to complete a deal compared with Premier League sides, giving them some extra time to negotiate. Nevertheless, there is still considerable pressure to reach an agreement quickly if they are to beat other interested clubs to the midfielder.
A move to Galatasaray could provide Sarr with the regular football he is looking for, although the player would have to decide whether leaving the Premier League at this stage of his career is the right decision.
The midfielder previously developed a strong reputation as a talented young player following his time at Metz, and Tottenham have continued to view him as a player with considerable potential. However, his lack of consistent playing time under De Zerbi appears to have changed the situation.
Tottenham set a £30million valuation
Tottenham are reportedly not demanding an enormous transfer fee for Sarr. Previous reports have suggested that the club could be willing to consider offers in the region of £30million for the midfielder.
That valuation could make Sarr an attractive option for clubs searching for a young and experienced midfielder before the transfer deadline.
Tottenham have already generated significant funds through player sales this summer, including the departures of Luka Vuskovic, Cristian Romero and Djed Spence. Another sale would provide the club with additional financial flexibility as they continue to reshape De Zerbi’s squad.
There is also uncertainty surrounding the future of Lucas Bergvall, with the possibility that the midfielder could leave before the window closes. If that happens alongside a Sarr departure, Tottenham could raise a substantial amount of money from midfield exits.
For Sarr, however, the biggest issue may not simply be the transfer fee. His priority is likely to be finding a club where he can play regularly and continue developing.
With the transfer deadline approaching rapidly, Tottenham, Sarr and interested clubs have very little time to decide his future. Unless a late offer changes the situation, the coming days could determine whether the Senegal international remains in North London or begins a new chapter elsewhere.
