Tottenham Plot £64m Victor Osimhen Blockbuster as Roberto De Zerbi Eyes Elite Striker
Tottenham Hotspur could be preparing to make one of the biggest statements of their summer transfer window, with Victor Osimhen emerging as a sensational target as Roberto De Zerbi looks to transform Spurs into serious Premier League contenders.
The Nigerian striker has been heavily linked with a move to north London, and reports suggest Tottenham have already tested Galatasaray’s resolve with an opening offer of around £55 million. However, with the Turkish giants reportedly demanding closer to £64 million, Spurs may have to return to the negotiating table with a significantly improved proposal.
The biggest obstacle may not even be the transfer fee.
Osimhen’s reported £309,000-per-week wages would represent a huge financial commitment, even for a Tottenham side that has already demonstrated a willingness to spend aggressively this summer. Yet if Spurs are genuinely serious about taking the next step under De Zerbi, signing a striker of Osimhen’s calibre could be the move that changes everything.
Tottenham have already made major additions to their midfield, with Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali arriving in blockbuster deals. Those signings have strengthened the engine room and given De Zerbi greater quality, physicality and creativity.
But there is still one glaring question.
Who is going to score the goals?
That is where Osimhen comes into the picture.
Tottenham have struggled for years to find a genuine long-term successor to Harry Kane. Nobody can realistically be expected to reproduce everything Kane delivered for Spurs, but Osimhen possesses many of the qualities required to fill the enormous attacking void.
The 27-year-old is a devastating centre-forward, combining explosive pace, physical strength, intelligent movement and an instinctive ability to find the back of the net. His record speaks for itself, having scored 17 or more goals in each of his last five seasons.
For Napoli and Galatasaray, Osimhen has established himself as a genuine superstar. Wherever he has played, goals have followed.
That consistency is precisely what Tottenham need.
There is certainly admiration for other attacking targets, including Folarin Balogun, but Osimhen would represent a completely different level of ambition. Balogun has plenty of potential, but Osimhen is already a proven world-class goalscorer who has performed under immense pressure.
And now, with the striker entering the prime years of his career, the Premier League could finally become his next destination.
For Spurs supporters, that possibility is particularly exciting.
De Zerbi has already been handed a squad containing considerably more quality and experience, but an elite striker could take the project to another level. Fernandes and Tonali can help control games, while the rest of Tottenham’s attacking players can create opportunities — but Osimhen could be the ruthless finisher capable of turning those chances into decisive goals.
The financial demands are enormous. Paying a £64m transfer fee while potentially taking on wages approaching £309,000 per week would be a major commitment.
Nevertheless, Tottenham’s recent business suggests ENIC are prepared to push the boat out when they believe the right player is available.
And if Osimhen is genuinely available, Spurs may have found exactly the type of signing worth breaking the bank for.
Tottenham don’t simply need another striker.
They need a statement striker.
They need someone capable of striking fear into Premier League defenders, delivering goals in crucial matches and giving De Zerbi the attacking weapon required to compete at the highest level.
Victor Osimhen could be that man.
If Tottenham manage to complete the deal, it could quickly become the defining transfer of their entire summer window — and potentially the signing that signals Spurs are ready to move from rebuilding to seriously competing again.
