BREAKING: Tottenham Make HUGE Decision on Cristian Romero Sale to Arsenal as £38M Transfer Shock Rocks North London!

Arsenal Make Shock Cristian Romero Move as Tottenham Face Huge Transfer Dilemma – Fabrizio Romano Reveals Everything

Tottenham Hotspur could be heading towards one of the most explosive transfer decisions in recent Premier League history after Arsenal made a shock approach for Spurs captain Cristian Romero.

The Argentine defender has been heavily linked with a move away from north London this summer, but the possibility of him crossing the divide and joining Tottenham’s biggest domestic rivals has suddenly transformed the situation into a potential transfer bombshell.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have already made contact with Romero’s representatives to gather information about a possible deal.

And while Arsenal’s enquiry does not mean a transfer is close, the fact that Tottenham have been approached by their bitter rivals could create an extraordinary dilemma for the club.

Romero is expected to leave Tottenham as Roberto De Zerbi continues reshaping his squad and takes the club in a new direction. For much of the summer, Inter Milan appeared to be among the strongest contenders for the Argentine, but those negotiations have since lost momentum.

Atletico Madrid have now emerged as the clear favourites.

Sources have indicated that Atletico have agreed personal terms with Romero, putting Diego Simeone’s side firmly in the driving seat. Negotiations between Atletico and Tottenham are also continuing as they attempt to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.

However, Arsenal’s sudden involvement has added an entirely different layer of drama.

Romano confirmed that the Gunners have spoken with Romero’s agents and requested information about the defender.

“On Cuti Romero. I expect Arsenal to sign a centre-back. So, for sure, Arsenal are looking at centre-backs on the market,” Romano said.

He then confirmed that Arsenal had specifically made contact regarding Romero.

“Arsenal spoke to the agents of Cuti Romero. Arsenal asked for information on Cuti Romero,” Romano revealed.

The biggest obstacle, however, is Tottenham themselves.

A transfer between Tottenham and Arsenal would be extremely difficult to complete because of the fierce rivalry between the two clubs. Spurs would reportedly find it much easier to give Atletico Madrid the green light than allow Romero to move across north London to the Emirates Stadium.

Romano described the potential Arsenal move as requiring an “historical” green light from Tottenham.

“My understanding is that the clear favourites to sign Cuti Romero now are Atletico Madrid,” he explained.

“The player is negotiating with them, Atletico Madrid are negotiating with Tottenham.”

That leaves Arsenal facing a major challenge if they genuinely want to sign the World Cup-winning defender.

Tottenham are reportedly looking for around £34million to £38million for Romero, meaning Arsenal would potentially have to convince Spurs to sell one of their most important players directly to their biggest rivals.

It is a scenario that could cause enormous controversy among supporters.

For Arsenal, the need for defensive reinforcements has become increasingly important. The Gunners have already been monitoring Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, particularly following William Saliba’s back injury.

Konsa remains another name on Arsenal’s radar and could represent a more realistic option than Romero.

Romano confirmed that Arsenal appreciate Konsa, saying he is another centre-back the club could follow closely in the coming weeks.

The situation at Aston Villa could also become complicated. Reports suggest Villa would even consider sacrificing goalkeeper Emi Martinez if doing so helped them keep hold of Konsa amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

For now, Atletico Madrid remain firmly in pole position for Romero.

Inter Milan had previously reached an agreement with Tottenham for the defender, but their move has stalled because they need to resolve Benjamin Pavard’s situation. Inter also still do not have an agreement with Romero over his contract.

That has opened the door for Atletico to take control.

Yet Arsenal’s intervention means this transfer saga is far from finished.

If Tottenham ultimately refuse to sell Romero to Arsenal, Atletico could have a relatively clear path to completing the deal. But if Spurs were somehow persuaded to negotiate with their north London rivals, the transfer would instantly become one of the most talked-about deals in Premier League history.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are continuing to explore attacking options after missing out on Vinicius Junior, while Tottenham have also reportedly been offered a world-class striker.

With both clubs still active in the transfer market, the Romero situation could be one of the biggest stories to watch as the summer window reaches its decisive stages.
