“Starting to Prevail” HUGE Cody Gakpo Update Drops as Tottenham Transfer Hopes EXPLODE! Spurs Closing In?

Tottenham’s Cody Gakpo Transfer Hopes Soar as Spurs Make Formal Move

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Cody Gakpo appears to have taken a dramatic turn, with the club’s chances of signing the Liverpool forward reportedly improving significantly in recent days. What initially looked like a difficult transfer has suddenly developed into one of the most intriguing stories of the final stages of the transfer window.

For Tottenham, the message is clear: they are no longer simply monitoring Gakpo’s situation from a distance. The Lilywhites have stepped up their efforts and have now formally expressed their interest in bringing the Netherlands international to North London.

Gakpo has reportedly emerged as one of Tottenham’s major attacking priorities, with manager Roberto De Zerbi determined to strengthen his forward line before the transfer window closes. The Spurs boss is understood to be pushing strongly for the deal, and growing confidence surrounding the transfer has given supporters fresh hope that a blockbuster agreement could actually happen.

Only days ago, however, the situation looked considerably less promising.

Reports had indicated that Liverpool had no intention of selling Gakpo, despite suggestions that the player himself would be open to a move to Tottenham. The Reds’ position appeared to be one of the biggest obstacles standing between Spurs and the highly-rated attacker.

Earlier in the week, The Athletic reported that Tottenham had not even opened direct discussions with Liverpool over a possible transfer. Instead, the club had reportedly made contact with Gakpo’s representatives as they explored the possibility of bringing him to N17.

But that situation has now changed.

Reports on Thursday suggested that Tottenham had formally expressed an interest in the 27-year-old, marking a significant escalation in their pursuit. The development has immediately intensified speculation that Spurs could be preparing an ambitious late-window attempt to convince Liverpool to sell.

And according to Voetbal International reporter Joost Blaauwhof, confidence surrounding the potential transfer is now growing rapidly.

Blaauwhof claims that the belief among the parties involved is increasingly that Gakpo’s move to Tottenham is “very realistic,” with the chances of the deal being completed described as “quite high.”

The journalist also indicated that De Zerbi has not backed away from his pursuit of the Dutch forward.

That could prove crucial.

“Among all parties, the conviction is starting to prevail that the transfer of Cody Gakpo to Spurs is becoming very realistic,” Blaauwhof reportedly stated. “The chance of success is now quite high. But Liverpool still needs to agree. Manager Roberto De Zerbi hasn’t let go so far. It’s Gakpo all the way.”

For Tottenham supporters, that final point will undoubtedly be the most exciting.

De Zerbi’s determination could become a major factor in the closing stages of negotiations. Spurs have already shown an aggressive approach in the transfer market and appear determined to give their new manager the attacking options required to compete at the highest level.

However, there is one enormous hurdle remaining: Liverpool.

The Merseyside club are under no obligation to sell Gakpo, and any potential agreement would almost certainly require Tottenham to make a substantial financial commitment.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke previously claimed that Liverpool would need to make multiple attacking additions before they would even consider allowing Gakpo to leave Anfield. That could make the situation surrounding PSG star Bradley Barcola particularly important.

Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their efforts to sign Barcola, and if the Frenchman were to arrive, it could potentially change the Reds’ thinking regarding Gakpo.

That possibility has given Tottenham a significant reason for optimism.

There is also the financial issue. Reports have suggested that Spurs may need to go beyond the £70 million mark to convince Liverpool to part ways with the Dutch international.

That would represent another huge statement of intent from Tottenham, especially considering the scale of their spending already this summer.

Yet if Spurs genuinely believe Gakpo can become a transformational attacking addition, they may be prepared to push the boat out.

Gakpo would offer Tottenham versatility, technical quality, physicality and Premier League experience. His ability to operate across the forward line would also give De Zerbi greater tactical flexibility, allowing the manager to change formations and attacking combinations without sacrificing quality.

The next few days could therefore be decisive.

Liverpool still have the final say, but the landscape surrounding Gakpo has clearly shifted. Tottenham have moved from contacting the player’s representatives to formally expressing their interest, while reports of growing confidence have only increased the excitement around the potential deal.

If Liverpool secure Barcola or another attacking reinforcement, the door could open even further.

For now, Spurs supporters can only wait and watch.

But what once appeared to be a distant dream is suddenly beginning to look like a genuine possibility. With De Zerbi refusing to give up, Tottenham pushing harder and confidence reportedly rising among those involved, Cody Gakpo’s potential move to North London could become one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.

And if Spurs are willing to break the £70 million barrier to get their man, the final days of the window could produce a spectacular transfer bombshell
