Former Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld has delivered a major warning to Spurs — sign Victor Osimhen before Arsenal can get their hands on him!

Tottenham Told to Go All-In on Victor Osimhen as £185m Spending Spree Raises Expectations

Tottenham Hotspur have already sent a huge statement to the rest of the Premier League this summer, breaking their transfer record twice with the blockbuster arrivals of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. With the pair reportedly costing a combined £185 million, Spurs have shown they are serious about transforming their squad and competing at the highest level.

But despite the eye-catching spending, one major piece of the puzzle is still missing — a proven, ruthless centre-forward capable of turning chances into goals consistently.

That is where former Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld believes Spurs should make their biggest move yet.

The Belgian has urged his former club to consider a spectacular swoop for Napoli and Galatasaray-linked striker Victor Osimhen, arguing that Tottenham desperately need the Nigerian international’s goals after struggling for attacking consistency last season.

Spurs have already strengthened several areas of the squad. Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have all arrived, while Tonali and Fernandes have significantly increased the quality and depth in midfield.

However, Tottenham’s attacking options remain an area that could determine whether their ambitious summer rebuild becomes a genuine success.

Osimhen Could Be the Missing Piece

Tottenham have been linked with several attacking stars during the transfer window, including Manchester City’s Savinho, Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and Chelsea’s Pedro Neto. Those names would undoubtedly add quality and excitement, but Alderweireld believes Spurs need to think differently.

Rather than simply adding another versatile winger, he wants Tottenham to prioritize a genuine No. 9 who can guarantee goals.

“Spurs could use a striker like Victor Osimhen, they need his goals because it’s what they lacked last season as well,” Alderweireld said in an interview with Hajper.

That statement could hardly be clearer.

Tottenham have invested enormous sums elsewhere, but bringing in a striker with Osimhen’s reputation could arguably represent the most important move of the entire summer.

The Nigerian forward has built a reputation as one of Europe’s most dangerous finishers. His explosive pace, physical strength, aerial ability and ruthless finishing make him the type of striker capable of changing games almost single-handedly.

For a Tottenham side determined to challenge at the top end of the Premier League, adding that kind of firepower could be transformational.

Age Should Not Stop Spurs

Alderweireld did acknowledge one potential issue surrounding Osimhen: his age compared with the younger forwards many elite clubs are targeting.

The former Spurs star pointed out that clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are also looking for young superstars who could lead their attacks for many years.

“Everyone wants to find a 23-year-old superstar who can bang in goals for the next seven or eight years,” Alderweireld explained.

But he believes Tottenham should not become obsessed with youth.

Instead, Spurs need the right balance between established stars and emerging talent.

And with Tottenham already investing heavily in young players, adding an experienced superstar such as Osimhen could provide exactly the balance Alderweireld is talking about.

The Ajax Blueprint

Alderweireld used his time at Ajax as the perfect example of how experience and youth can work together.

During his Ajax career, he saw experienced players such as Dusan Tadic and Daley Blind play alongside emerging talents including Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt.

That combination produced spectacular results.

“That’s what you need,” Alderweireld said, emphasizing the importance of experienced players helping younger stars develop.

Tottenham could attempt to recreate that formula by combining their exciting young players with proven stars capable of delivering immediately.

Osimhen would certainly fit that description.

Spurs’ Summer Gamble

With Tottenham already spending around £185m on Tonali and Fernandes, the pressure to make the rest of the transfer window count is enormous.

Supporters will expect those investments to translate into results, and adding a top-class striker could be the final ingredient.

Savinho and Gakpo may offer versatility and attacking creativity, but a clinical No. 9 could address Tottenham’s biggest weakness head-on.

The message from Alderweireld is therefore simple: Spurs have already spent big, so why stop now?

If Tottenham can somehow bring Victor Osimhen through the door, their already dramatic summer rebuild could go from ambitious to absolutely explosive and suddenly, expectations around north London would rise to another level.
