BREAKING: De Zerbi Finally Speaks on Kulusevski Injury as Mo Kudus’ Tottenham Comeback Moves One Step Closer

Tottenham Hand Major Dejan Kulusevski Injury Update as Roberto De Zerbi Reveals Road Back

Tottenham Hotspur have received a major update on Dejan Kulusevski as new head coach Roberto De Zerbi continues to prepare his squad for what promises to be a hugely demanding 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

With Spurs already making significant moves in the transfer market and several new faces arriving in north London, attention is now turning towards the players returning from injury. Among them is Kulusevski, whose prolonged absence has been a major concern for Tottenham supporters.

The Swedish international has been out of action for more than a year, making his eventual return one of the most eagerly anticipated moments of Tottenham’s pre-season. However, De Zerbi has made it clear that fans may need to remain patient.

The Tottenham boss has provided a revealing insight into Kulusevski’s rehabilitation, confirming that the midfielder is working individually rather than training fully with the first-team group.

“He’s working, he’s working not with the group, but with the individual coach,” De Zerbi explained.

The Italian coach also revealed that he has been closely monitoring Kulusevski’s progress and acknowledged the difficult period the player has experienced during his lengthy rehabilitation.

“I’m observing him a lot, because first of all, he suffers too much, and as a human situation, it’s been tough for him,” De Zerbi said, while stressing that everyone at Tottenham remains behind the player.

That message will undoubtedly be welcomed by Spurs supporters, particularly given Kulusevski’s importance to the team when fully fit.

De Zerbi went even further when discussing the quality the Sweden international can bring once he finally returns to competitive action.

“He’s a different player, he’s a special player,” the manager said, suggesting that a fully fit Kulusevski could provide Tottenham with another attacking dimension.

The Tottenham boss even compared his potential impact to that of Xavi Simons, highlighting just how highly he appears to rate the Swedish star.

For Tottenham, however, there is absolutely no reason to rush the process.

After spending such a long period on the sidelines, Kulusevski needs time to rebuild his fitness, sharpness and confidence before being thrown back into the intensity of Premier League football.

While Kulusevski’s return remains a work in progress, Tottenham have received far more encouraging news regarding another important attacking player.

Mohammed Kudus appears to be edging significantly closer to a first-team comeback.

The Ghana international has also been sidelined for more than three months and recently returned to outdoor training. But unlike Kulusevski, Kudus appears to be much closer to being available for selection.

De Zerbi delivered the biggest positive update yet when discussing his squad, simply stating: “Kudus is almost ready.”

That short statement could be huge news for Tottenham.

Kudus was brought in with expectations that he could become an important part of Spurs’ attacking plans, and his return could provide De Zerbi with another explosive option as the new campaign approaches.

The manager also provided updates on several other players, with James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, Destiny Udogie and Fernandes all included in the group moving closer to full availability.

There was a minor concern surrounding Pape Matar Sarr after he experienced some pain, although De Zerbi stressed that it was “nothing big.”

Meanwhile, Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro were not expected to feature in the upcoming Brentford game.

For Tottenham fans, the overall picture is therefore beginning to look increasingly positive.

The club have been extremely active in reshaping the squad, while injured stars are gradually making their way back. Kudus could soon return to competitive action, while Kulusevski continues his carefully managed rehabilitation.

And when Kulusevski finally gets the green light, Tottenham could effectively feel like they have made another major signing without spending a penny.

De Zerbi clearly understands that patience will be crucial. Spurs supporters may be desperate to see Kulusevski back on the pitch, but the priority is ensuring that when he does return, he is ready to make a lasting impact.

The countdown to Kulusevski’s comeback has officially begun and Tottenham fans will be hoping the Swedish star can eventually return as the special player De Zerbi believes he can be.
